Be it known that I, THAnnEUs J. BARROW, a citizen of the-United States, residing at Riverside, in the county of Riverside and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in NewspaperHolders, --of which the following is a specification.

This invention has for its object to provide an improved newspaperholder for holding I will be hereinafter specifically described,

Referring to the drawings in detail,where in similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views the numeral 5 indicates a sup porting table or desk, the inclined top of which constitutes a support for the lower newspaper holder. In use, the newspaper .holder 7, supported upon the top 6 may be utilized for holding the issue of one newspaper and the holder 12 supported upon the pivoted board adjacent ends of the. latter, and a remov- V 9 is utilized for holding the issues of another newspaper.

The newspapers 20 are compactly held in the frames 14 by the bow springs 18, and the frame let may be swung to either side to render the newspaper readily accessible. When it is desired to refer to a certain newspaperin the group positioned in the holder 7, the pivoted board 9 is swung to open position and is held in that position by the bracell. However, when it is desired to refer to a certain newspaper held in the upper holder 12, the brace 11 is removed and the board 9 swung to closed position, thereby moving -the holder 12 and newspapers positioned therein into intermediate position for reference;

In the modification of the invention illustrated in Figure '7 the table or desk 5 is provided with oppositely inclined top sections 6, to which are pivotally secured the pivoted boards 9, which are identical in construction to the boards designated by the corresponding numerals in the other figures in the drawings.

The newspaper holders 7 and 12 are supported in position upon the top section 0 and board 9 in the manner hereinbefore described. I

I claim as my invention;

1. A device of the character described including a pivoted frame, rods secured in said frame, newspaper binding strips, ears carried by said strips, certain of said ears having slots therein and the other ears having an aperture therethrough, the slotted ears being detachably engaged by the rods,

and a pin positioned through the apertured' ear securing the strips in position in the frame.

2. The combination with a pivotally mounted frame, of a movable binding strip, an ear carried by said strip, a pin positioned through the frame and the ear for securing the strip in position, rods secured in the frame which rods are detachably connected to said binding strip, and spring means ar ranged in the frame and engaging the ear to secure the strip against accidental move ment.

3. The combination with a pivotally mounted frame, of a relatively movable) binding strip, an ear carried by said strip, a removable pin positioned through the frame and ear to secure the strip in position, rods secured in the frame which rods aredetachably connected to said binding strip, and a spring receiving the pin and engaging the frame and ear to retain the strip against movement.

4. A device of the character described including a pivoted. frame, rods secured in said frame, newspaper binding strips,,ears carried by said strips, certain of said ears having slots therein and the other ears having an aperture therethrough, the slotted ears being d'etachably engaged by the rods, a pin positioned through the apertured ear securing the strips in position in the frame, and a spring receiving the pin and engaging the frame and ear to retain the strip against movement.
