Having these difficulties in mind' the object yof'my.presentinvention is to provide a construction `whereby the space on; theIk apron is conserved and the buckles will beproperly alined. l
The object of the invention above stated is attained in the present embodiment by forming the buckles on one ot the cross slats of the conveyer.

The details ofthebuckle slatareshown in Figs. 2 to 4', and as. illustrated; therein` the slat 4is preferablyy formed .ofgsheet .metal and has laihorizontal.body portion 1-5, a vertical web portion 16 andarearwardly. extendingv substantiallyhorizontal flange portion 17. As clearly shown in Fig. 4:, the tongue re'- taining portion or member 22 is `bent down.-
wardly into contact with the upper surface of the horizontal body portion 15 of the slat. They ends of the buckle slat are provided with flanges 24, the angeat the innerv end of the slat forming a bearing for the slat and contacting with the rimof a wheel 25 which guides the slats and oonveyer in the travel around the conveyer frollers, one of which is shown at 26.
The body portion of the conveyer 10 and the straps 12 Iare secured to the body portion 15 of the buckleslat by'means of a` member 27 having a flanged serrated pe` f ripheral portion-28, the serrations of the ange extending in the straps 12 as shown in Fig. 4. Rivets 29 extend through the members 27 and through the straps, con veyer and body portion I5 of the buckle slat. The path of the strap through the buckle is shown in the section in Fig. l and as illustrated therein the strap is passed around the engaging and supporting portion 19 over the pivoted tongue 20 and rearwardly through the slot 23. The pivoted tongue is provided on its front edge with a series 'of teeth- 30 which project into ythe strap land firmly secureit in adjusted position.
From the above description it will be seen that by providing a slat having the buckles formed thereon, in the place of one ot the ordinary slats of conveyer, the space on the conveyer is conserved andthe buckles are always in correct alinement witheach other. y v While I have shown my invention in connection with a quadrantal conveyer, it should be ot course understood that the buckle slat may be used on any conveyer where its use would be desirable.
In disclosing my invention I have illustrated and described one embodiment thereof, but it should be understood that the invention is capable of modiiication, and that modifications may be employed without departing from the spiritl and scope o1 the invention as expressed by the following claims.
1. A slat for conveyers provided with a strap engaging portion, said slat having a buckle member pivotally carried to one side of and coacting with said portion; y
2. A slat for conveyers having a series ot buckle tongues pivoted thereto, means formed on said slat adjacent the front ends of said tongues for supporting and engaging a plurality of straps, and means carried by said slat for receiving and guiding the free ends of saidv straps.
3. A slat vtor conveyershaving a horizontal body port-ions and a continuous vertical web portion, and a buckle tongue pivot-ally supported adjacent said portion.
4l. A slat for conveyers having a horizontal body portion Aand a substantially vertical web portion, a buckle tongue pivotally carried intermediate said portions, and means carried by one of said portions and engaging the other for pivotally securing said tongue to said slat.
5. A slat for conveyers having a horizontal body portion and a vertical web portion extending throughout the length of the slat, a tongue pivoted to said slat, said slat having a slot in said horizontal portion and in said vertical position and positioned in alinement with the free end of said tongue when said tongue is in its operative position.
6. A slat for conveyers having a horizontal body portion and a vertical web portion and a tongue pivoted to said slat, said horizontalA portion having a slot disposed adjacent the free end of said tongue when said tongue is in operative position, and said vertical web having a slot disposed in alinement with the slot in said horizontal portion.
7. A slat for conveyers having a plurality of angularly disposed port-ions, a. tongue pivoted to said slat, said angularly disposed portions having slots disposed in alinement with the free end of said tongue.
8. A slat for conveyers having a substantially horizontal body portion and a substantially vertical web portion said horizontal portion having an upturned strap engaging portion, and a tongue pivoted to said slat at the junction of Asaid horizontal portion with said vertical portion 'for cooperating with said upturned'portion.
