Description
I Feb; 20, 1923. O. HABICHT PRESS .FOR UNITING THE. SOLES AND UPPERS OF SHOES BY GLUINQ Filed Aug. 1, 1921 seems Feb. 20, 1923.;
OTTO HABICHT, O1? MUHLI-IEIlVf-ON-THE-IVIAIN, GERMANY.
PRESS FOR UNI'I'ING THE SOLES AND UPPERS OF SHOES BY GLUING.
Application filed August 1, 1921. Serial Not 489,024.
To all whom it may 00mm;
Be it known that I, OTTO HABICHT, a citizen of the German Republic, and resident of Muhlheim-on-the-Main, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improve,
ments in Presses for Uniting the Soles and U ppers of Shoes by Gluing (for which applications for patents have been filed in Germany. H. 81934. July 29, 1920; Austria,
March 14, 1921; Switzerland, March 15, 1921; and in France March 19, 1921); and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the ac.- companying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
For the sticking together of soles and uppers of shoes by means of glue a bow used for clamping the uppers and the bottom parts placed upon a last in the press. This how is directly attached to the heelend of the last, bearing upon the front or toe part of the same by means of a stud which is bolstered with leather, felt or the like and rests upon the upper of the shoe.
Owing to the high pressure exerted by the press it is unavoidable that with this construction of the bow the upperis damaged notwithstanding the bolster of leather, felt or the like. It happens even frequently that after a certain time of use the surface of the last shows marks or impressions.
which cause the destruction of the last.
This invention has for its object to obviate this inconvenience in such a manner that the effect of the pressure of the bow upon the upper is avoided by the direct transmission of this pressure upon the front or toe part of the last. 7
It is indifferent which kind of last is used, the arrangement being adapted to be used with pump-lasts as well as with lasts for shoes having an upper closure extending to the toe.
For the cushion like presser part whichv bears upon the front part of the last in the apparatus of known construction a pin orv stud is substituted according to this invention which engages with a sleeve like cavity of the last in such a manner, that no pressure is exerted upon the upper. The characteristic feature of the invention consists in the direct transmission of the pressure .partof the last.
upon the last, the constructional detail of the arrangement is of no importance as the pin could be fixed'in the last designed to engage with a tubular extension of the pressure bow. 1n lasts for shoes with upper closures extending to the toe a sleeve open at both ends may be arranged at the lower end of the closure, the pin traversing this sleeve to find support in a second sleeve in the lower part of the last. I
The pin is preferably adjustably arranged I on the presser bow-so that the arrangement can be adjusted to the various sizes of the lasts.
In order that't-he invention may be clearly understood, I shall proceed to describe the same with reference to the form. of con, struction shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing, wherein Fig. 1 is aside elevation partly in section. I I
Fig. 2 shows in'front elevation the arrangement for the adjustment of the pin;
.The two parts of the pump last 1 are connected the one with 2, and spring 3. with a pin 5 in a sleeve 6 fixed in the rear 'Accordi'ngto the invention a sleeve 7 is fixed in the front part of the last which is designed toreceive the pin 8 mounted in a supporting end of the presser how. This supporting piece 9 is mounted (as shown in Fig. 2) on a clove-tailed guide 10 of the presser how so that the position ofpin 8 can be adjusted in accordance with the size of the last.
I claim: 1
1. In combination a last having a socket in its rear in its front portion, a shoe press bow, a pin on one end of said bow for engaging the socket in the rear portion of said last, a slide on the other end of said how and a pin on said slide for engaging the socket in the front portion of the last.
2111 combination, a last having a pin socket in its rear portion and a pin socket in its front portion. a shoe-press bow, a pin on one end engaging the first. mentioned pin socket anda pin slidable on the other end OTTO HABICHT.
v the otherby hinge The bow l is provided piece 9 adjustable in the front portion and apin socket v
