N. L. BAKER GAS STOVE BURNER Filed Dec. 25, 1920 patented Fete. 13, 1923.
NORMAN L. BAKER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO N. L. BAKER MANUFACTURING COIVIPANY, OF PHILADELPHIA, LENNSYLVANIA, A CORPORA- TION OF DELAWARE.
GAS-STOVE BURNER.
Application filed December 23, 1920.
T all 107mm it may concern.
Be it known that I, Nonimn L. BAKER, a citizen of the United States. and resident 0t Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gastove Burners, or which the following is a specification.
My invention concerns means for preventing the flame of a gas range from being put out by a draft of air or by flooding with liquid due to the boiling over of the vessels in which material is being cooked, the invention insuring the maintenance of some of the jets or flames to act as a pilot light for lighting up the burner, should a port-ion of it be put out from any cause.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. 1 is a plan view of a burner with my invention in place.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view.
The device consists of a tubular member 1 preferably cylindrical in shape and of small diameter as compared with the usual diameter of cooking vessels. It is notched at its lower edge at 2 so that it may be fitted to a gas burner having radiating arms. It has upper notches which will allow communication between the interior of the device and the exterior so that the interior flames may act as pilots to light up the portion of the burner surrounding the device should this go out from any cause.
Serial No. 432,638.
One cause is flooding by reason of the liquid contents of cooking vessels boiling If this occurs the device being of smaller diameter than the cooking vessel Wlll shield the flames within it from the liquid which falls down outside of the same of burners.
It will be understood that the tubular member or guard may be formed as a part of the burner. Further, the burner may be of different form from that shown. Its
radiating arms may be omitted and the gas jet openings may lie only within the circuit of the guard ring or flange.
I claim In combination with a gas stove burner, a shield of less diameter than the extreme diameter of the flame arising from the said burner supported thereon, and adapted to protect the center jets of flame of said burner from air drafts or from flooding by liquid falling from the cookingvessels.
ture.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signa- NORMAN L. BAKER.
