This invention relates to improvementsin gas burners.

The gauge-ofmet'al in the disk 4 may vary according to desire, the depth of the slits, as viewed in -Fig. 2, and; hence theosize of flame, depending upon this factor. "That 'is,-the disk 4 serves as a spacing means between the other two=parts betweenwhichzit is secured,-an dthe fiow of gas through the slits will vary accordingly. Regardless of the capacity offlow vofagas bythe particular thickness of disk, there is always had .a burner-opening of-narrow or restricted slit form. --with certain advantages incident thereto.
The ring 12 rests upon a shoulder provided upon the attachment 1 and; means of the arms '13,- supports the cdeflectingwring 14:. This ring is slightly inclined, as shown in the drawing, andserves to deflect the jetswof flame upwardly in the form I of a virtual circle.

"Inzmy present invention; the gas mixes with the air outside of the burner-and hence there is prevented the-flaresback-and accidental ex- -=.tin gi-iishment ofxthewflame. The narrowness wofethe slits serves to prevent theupassa eof zlthe' -flame through:' the :same-to: the insi e; of rthe burner .;.'.yet .atthe same time, the'other dimensions of the slits permit sufficient-flew :thewequantity 'of :gasrquiredjfor -a given temperature:iscomparativeLy-low.

Furthermore, my particular structure is decidedly inexpensive to manufacture and, because of-its simplicity and ready separability of the several parts, the combination can be varied, as maybe desired. For instance,
there may be employed a modified form of disk 4 in which the marginal portion thereof is inclined at a greater angle upwardly so as to project the ets of flame more in an upward direction. Or the marginal portion of the disk 4 may be formed horizontal so as to direct the jets of flame more'to the side, or in other words horizontally. \Vhen the flame jets are projected upwardly to a certain degrce,'.there may be substituted a deflecting ring of less diameter, such smaller ring being positioned at a higher level so as to intercept the same part of the jets of flame as in the other cases. That is, all of the rings of different diameters intercept the flames at the same point and the projection of the flame jets upwardly permits the use of a smaller deflecting ring so as to have a smaller diameter of flame. g
Another advantage consists in the great facility with which my burner can be cleaned.
Other advantages resulting from my present invention will readily suggest themselves to one who is skilled in the art to which it relates.
It is to be understood that the present dis- .closure is merelyfor purposes of illustration and that'there may be devised certain modifications without departing from the spirit of my invention. V v
What I claim is: r
1. A gas burner comprising a tubular member for feeding the gas, a disk having its extreme edge portion slitted radially and seated across the extreme outlet end of said tubular member so as to provide a burner opening through the disk, and means engaging the top marginal portion of the disk for securing the same in flxed position and occupying spaced relation to the main body thereof, said disk'and securing means being constructed and arranged to provide a chamber therebetween for receiving the gas through the slitted disk and deflecting the same outwardly to the outside. v
2. A gas burner comprising a tubular member for feeding the gas, a disk having its edge portion slitted radially and seated across the outlet end of the tubular member so asto provide a narrow, slit like burner opening through the disk, and separate means arranged above the disk and'engaging only the edge portion thereof for deflecting the gas therethrough radially to the outside.
3. A gas burner comprising a tubular member for feeding the gas, a disk having its Y extreme edge portion slitted radially and seated in fixed position across the extreme through the disk, and separate means arranged above the disk and engaging only the edge portion thereof for deflecting the gas radially therethrough to the outside. 7
A. A gas burner comprising a tubular member for feeding the gas, a separate disk having a plurality of marginal, radially "ex tending slits and having marginal seating engagement upon the outlet end of said tubular member so as to provide a plurality of narrow slit-like burner openings through the disk, and separate means for securing said disk in position, said securing means comprising a plate having its under side dished so as to provide a chamber above the'burner openings and having engagement with the upper and outer marginal portion of said disk.
5. A gas burner comprising a tubular member for feeding the gas, a separate disk having a plurality of marginal, radially extending slits and having seating -marginal' engagement upon the outlet end of said tubular member so as to provide a pluralityof narrow slit-like burner openings through the disk, and separate means for securing said disk in position, saidsecuring means comprising a plate'having its under side dished so as to provide a chamber above the burner openings, and having its marginal portions beveled above the burner openings so as to deflect the gas'outwardly, the outer edge of the saidsecuring means'having engagement with the upper marginal portion of said disk.

A gas' burner comprising a tubular member for feeding'the gas, a separate disk having a plurality of marginal, radially extending slits and having seating engagement upon the outlet end of said tubular member so as to provide a plurality of narrow, slitlike. burner openings through the disk, and separate means for securing said disk inposition, said securing means comprising a plate having its under side dished so as to provide a chamber above the burner-openings," and said disk having-its upper surface concaved so as to supplement the said -chamber,-the outer edge of the said securing means having engagement with the upper marginal portion of said disk. a v 1 7.
