Description

ik@ w23. www@ J. KINSEY TOBACCO POUCH Filed Apr. 12, 19221 Patented Feb. d, i923.
Martinetti JACOB KINSEY, 0F PHLADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
TOBACCO POUCH.
Application led April 12,
To all fwtom 'it may concern Be it known that l, JACOB Kinsey, a citizen of the United States, residing at lhiladelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tobacco Pouches, of which the following is a specification.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a comparatively inexpensive pocket tobacco pouch from which tobacco may be discharged in the exact quantities desired for use by very simple manipulation and which is normally automatically closed in such a way that the contents is coniined and is not wasted.
To these and other ends hereinafter' set forth the invention, stated in general terms, comprises a pocket tobacco pouch consisting of a tubular body, as of leather, having open ends of which oneis larger than the other and provided at the larger end with a closing flap and at the smaller end with a spring for spreading it intoI closed position and permitting of its being opened by manual compression of the spring. The invention also comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed.
In the following description reference will be made to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof and in which Figure l is an elevationalrview of a tobacco pouch embodying features of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a cross section on the line 2&2 of Figure l, and
Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line of Figure l showing hon7 the spring closes the discharge end of the pouch by spreading it.
In the drawings l is the body of the pouch and it is of tubular form and may be made of leather or like material. The opening at the filling end 2 is larger than the 1921. Serial No. 460,548.
opening at the discharge end 3, and the body is shown to follow curved lines between its ends. At the end 2 there is a iiap et shown as provided with a snap fastener or button 5. 6 is a spring arranged in the pouch and which operates to spread the smaller end 3 of the tubular body so as to close it as shown in Fig. 3, but by compressing the spring an opening is provided at the smaller end for the emission of its contents or tobacco. The ends of the spring are shown as secured to the inner wall of the pouch by stitching indicated at T.
in use the pouch is lled through the opening 2 by opening the flap t, which is thereafter closed as by means of the fastening 5. lo Withdraw tobacco the ends of the spring 6 are pressed together which causes separation of the Walls 8 and 9, Fig. 3, so that the tobacco can iiow ont, and upon releasing the ends of the spring the latter spreads the end 3 of the pouch and brings the walls 8 and 9 into contact with each other, thus automatically closing the pouch.
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that modications may be made in details of construction and arrangement without departing from the spirit of the invention which is not limited as to those matters or otherwise than as the prior art and the appended claim may require.
I claim:
A tubular tobacco pouch of curved con-l tour between its ends of which one is larger than the other and having the smaller end open all the way across, and provided with a closing flap for the larger end and with a spring for the smaller end and having stitches for securing the ends of the spring to the. side Walls of the pouch.
JACOB KINSEY.
