SPORT BAG Filed Nov. 16. 1929 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Invento A itomey Patented June 16, 1931 UNETED srArs ANTHONY BERT-1N1, F BRIDGETON, NEJV JERSEY SPORT BAG Application filed. November 16, 1929. Serial No. 407,698.
The present invention relates to a sport bag for the use of huntsmen and the like and has for its prime object to provide abag having a pocket formed of material suchas leather in combination with a net pocket, the former being used for various accessories and the latter for game.
Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a bag of this nature including the opaque pocket and net pocket in combination with a single pocket closure.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a bag of this nature which is simple in its construction, convenient in use, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, and
thoroughly efficient and reliable.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bag closed,
Figure 2 is a vertical section therethrough, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bag open.
Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the letter A denotes a pocket formed of opaque material such as leather or the like including a rear wall 5,
' a front wall 6, a bottom gusset 7 and side gussets 8.
The top of the rear wall 5 merges into a cover flap 9. A carrying strap 10 has its ends secured to the rear wall 5 and is preferably in two sections buckled together as at 11.
Another pocket is denoted generally by the letter B and is formed of net material including rear wall 12 and front wall 1 1, the
bottom edges of which taper downwardly and the side and bottom edges are secured together. A fringe 15 depends from the bottom of this pocket B.
A pair of leather bindings 16 are sewed to the side edges of the net pocket B and to the front edge of the gusset8 and front wall 6 thereby forming a secure strong seam connecting the-two pockets together. The top edge of the front wall 6 is folded over the upper edge of the rear wall 12 and is fastened securely to the wall 6 by stitching or the like.
A binding 17 encloses the upper edge of the front wall 14 and is stitched thereto and 1 is secured at its ends'in the bindings 16.
A tab 19 is secured on the flap 9 and carries element 20 for engaging in look 21 carried on the front of the front wall 14 so that the flap 9 will close the pockets A and B when in the position shown in Figures 1 and 2.
It is thought that the construction, opera tion, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof. a
The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It is apparent that changes in the details of construction, in the materials, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as'hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
A device of the class described comprising a bag including front and rear walls and gussets connecting the side and bottom edges of the walls, another bag, including front and rear walls, disposed in opposed relation to the front wall of the first named bag, the rear wall of the second named bag abutting the front wall of the first named bag, said front wall of the first named bag having its upper portion folded over the upper portion of the rear wall of the second named bag and secnred thereto, a binding enclosing the upper portion of the front Wall of the second named bag and stitched thereto, bindings enclosing portions of the vertical edges of the side gussets, the front wall of the first named bag, the Walls of the second named bag and the end portions of the first named binding for securing the bags together, said bags open at their tops, an integral flap on the m rear Wall of the first named bag, and coacting means on the flap and the front Wall of the second named bag fordetachably con-, necting the flap thereto, said flap constituting a closure common to the bags, the first r 15 named bag formed of Waterproof material and the second named bag formed of open mesh material.
In testimony whereof I her ennto affix my signature;
V ANTHONY BERTINI.
