lle it lin-own that l, Hanni J. {li-ini'. a `citizen of the United States, and resident of tauxrille, in the county of @zaulree and State of ldfisconsin, have invented new and useful improvements in Liquid-Fuel Bur ners9 of which the following is a description, reference being` had to the accompanyingl dra-wings, which are a part of this specification.
My invention relates to liquid fuel burners and more particularly to a burner using` kerosene as fuel.
lu kerosene burners it necessary to pro ride a .means for raporizing the fuel pre vious to its ignition in tie burner. l am aware that it has been proposed to place the vaporizer directly above the burner or to provide an annular vaporizing conduit sur.- rounding` the burner head, but in these constructions the vaporizer is heated to such a high temperature as to crack the constituents of the fuel and produce an inei'iicient mixture. To obviate this diiiiculty l have provided a new arrangement and novel combination of parts whereby the vaporizer is only subject to a portion of the heat generated by the burners so that just enough heat is imparted to the fuel to cause etlicientvaporization.
The invention further consists in the novel parts and combinations of parts hereinafter described.

l do not claim that the construction above described is original with me7 but l illustrate it and describe it for the purpose of showing a construction which is capable of use in combination with the new and novel parts now to be described which parts it will be understood may be used in combination with any suitable form of mixing chamber and burner head.

The vaporizing means consists of' a vaporizing tube 28 disposed at one side of the body 5 and secured thereto by a clip 29 and screws 30, said tube being connected at its lower end 3`l-to a fuel supply pipe 32. rIhis tube 28 extends upwardly along side the burner head and thence downwardly, the spraying nozzle and needle valve previously describedl being located adjacent the end 83 of said tube.
Clip 29 has one end projected beyond the body 5, as shown clearly in Figure 3 of the drawing, and thereby provides a free end forming a spring clamping means which can be adjusted to the vaporizing pipe, either tight or loose as desired, by lmanipulating the single screw 30 which engages said free end.
The means for heating the vaporizing means consists of a portion of the heat from the burner which is diverted from the burner head against the tube by means of a deflector. This deflector consists of a hood formed over a portion 34 of the burner head and having a side opening 35 adjacent the tube 28 formed with a vertical straight portion having integral thickened walls for a portion of its length and so that the burning` fuel of this segregated portion of the burner furnishes sufficient heat to the tube 28 to cause efficient vaporization of the fuel passing therethrough. rIhe hood is formed by a. top plate 3G, an inner side wall 37, an end wall 38 and an end wall 39. The top plate 36 extends inwardly over the portion 34 of the burner passage 22 and the side wall 37 is formed by a flange depending :from this top plate and disposed adjacent the inner side of the burner passage 22. The end wall 38 is formed by a flange depending from the end of the plate 36 and has an outwardly extending curved portion 4l() disposed adjacent the tube. 28. The end wall 39 is one end of a partial ring section l1 which is secured to the end portions of the top plate 36. The ends of the wall 37 are spaced from theinner ends of the walls 38 and 39 to form channels 42 to allow air topass insidel the hood adjacent the flange 37. The ring section 4l has an upwardly and inwardly inclined wall lf3 disposed adjacent the burner passage 22 and a continuous. groove 44.- seated on the upper outer edge of the body 5.
1With this construction the burning fuel of that portion of the burner head which is covered by the hood has its heat deflected outwardly against the tube 28 which is heated sufficiently to produce a more efficient vaporization of the fuel as it passes to the spray nozzle. 25 than would be the case were the tube 28 subjected to the whole or a greater portion of the heat from the b-urner.
I am aware. that the details of construction herein shown and described are subject to modification and change, but such changes as come within the scope of the appended claims I deem to be withinthe spirit of my invention.
TWhat I claim as my invention is:
In a device of the class described, a burner-head, a vaporizing-pipe, and a. heat deflecting means mounted on the burnerhead to deflect a portion of the heat from the burner to the vaporizing-pipe, said vaporizing-pipe being formedl with aI vertical straight portion having integral thickened walls for a portion of its length to provide bosses adapted to be positioned below the plane of the body-portion of the burner, one of said bosses having formed therein a spraynozzle and the other a threaded opening to receive a packing-plug, and a bowed holding-clip partially surrounding the vertical straight portion of the vaporizing-pipe and secured on opposite sides thereof to the bodyportion of the burner by screws, whereby the vaporizing-pipe can be bodily adjusted vertically with respect to the burner and its heat deflector by loosening the screws of' the holding clip.
