Application filed .Tune 3, 1922. Serial No. 565,609.`
To all whom t may concern.' i
it known that l, lvliciinnr, linniiiirnn, a citizen of the Republic of fiustria (who has declaredhis intention of becoming a citizen of the United States of America), residing at YForest Park, in the county of Cook and State of illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Rotaryilicing Machines, of which the. `fol lowing is a specification.
This invention relates to that class o-f culinary slicing machines in which a cutter carrying head having revolutionin a hori- Zontalplane, is disposed `beneath a stationary open bottom holding hopper adapted tol conta-in the articles or material to be sliced,`
and the jectzw To provide `a structural formation and association of parts, in which a ready depresent improvement has for itsobtachnient of the different portions of the machine-for cleaning and repair vis attained., and with which the cutter carrying `head is effectively housed against accident, with ready accessibility for adjustment of the cut-ter blades and for the removal of "tiny obstructing` material which may become clogged in the throats or passages in the cutter head through which the sliced `niaterial passes downwardly into a receiving All as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1, is atop view of the machine.
Fig. 2, is a. longitudinal sectionon line 2-2 Fig. 1.
Fig 3, is a horizontal section on line 3-3 Fig. 2.
Fig. Ll, is a detail vertical section on line i-iiuge` v *Y n Fig. 5, is an enlarge-d detail transverse section on line 55 Fig. 3, of the detachable connection between the hopper base and the bed plateof the machine.
Like reference numerals indicate like parts in the several views.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the base or bed plate vof the machine, having supporting feet 2 by which itis supported above a receiving bowl or the like for the sliced material as it comes from the machine.
The bed plate is `provided with a centrally arranged opening 3,' in which isarranged the rotary cutter carrying head now to be described.
4 designates a flat circular disk or head revolubly mounted in the `opening 3` aforesaid, by means of a centrally depending shaft having bearing in a horizontal bracket frame 5 and carrying at its lower end a bevel gear wheel 6.
7 designates a horizontal driving shaft joui'nalled in the bracket frame and carrying on its inner end a bevel wheel 8 having driving engagement with the aforo said gear wheel 6 of the cutter c; riiying head 4C. The outer end of the shaft 7 entends beyond the base plate l and is provided with a hand cranlr 9 or other usual driving connection. v
10 designates aplurality of track rollers. the carrying frames of which are attached to the base plate 1 near the margin of the opening 2 thereof, with said rollers adapted to have bearing against the under face of the cutter carrying head 4 to support the saine against any side sag in actual use ot the machine. y
l1 designates av 'pair of passages in the head or dislr e, extending radially from near the center tonear the periphery of the disk1 tion of the machine.
12 designates cutter bladespreferably ot the curved edge type shown in Fig. il, and arranged at the rear margins of the passages 11 aforesaid. Said cutter blades are pret erably or" the adjustable type described in my prior Patent No. 1,415,449 dated May D. 1922 with each having a. detail association of parts followsz- 13 designates rock shafts journalled at their respective ends near the respectivev end of the passages ll'and at the roar sides of the saine. The outer ends of the sha have operative connection with vertical adjusting stems 1d ournalled in the marginal portion of the cutter carrying head Ll, and by iireans bywhich a turning adjustment imparted to the shaft as set forth in detail in my aforesaidpatcnt. Lengthwise of the sha't'ts 13, the'butt portions o-f the cutter `blades 12 are fiXedly secured sov that each cut-ter blade 12 will have adjustment in unison with its rock shaft 13.
In lthe lpreferred construction shown in Fig. il, `the respective passages "11 are pro vided with throats 15 extending rearwardly from the shafts 13 and cutter blades 12 aforesaid, with said throats having open bottoms and inclined top walls 16, by mea-ns of which
