CONTAINER.
Application filed July 31, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatl, Emionn S. Herr, a citizen of the U nit-ed States, residing at lied Wing, in the county of Goodhue and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Container, f which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to containers, and more particularly to containers especially designed for containing alcohol or the like liquids, the primary object of being to provide a container which will reduce loss of the liquid contained therein due to evaporation, to the ininimiun.
Another object of the invention to proride a container of this character wherein the contents thereof may be drawn from. the bottom thereof, thereby eliminating the necessity of tilting the receptacle to drain the same.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the coinbiuation and arrangement of parts and in the details of constructi n hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may he niade within the scope of what is caimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure l is a side elevationai view of a container constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional lQW of the container.
Referring to the drawing in detail. the reference character 5 designates the body portion of: the container which formed of clay or other suitable plastic material, usually employed in constructing containers for laboratory use.
the invention Serial No. 573,761.
The container is preferably circular in cross section, the upper end thereof being bulged as at 6 to provide a convex upper end, the same being formed with a circular opening the walls thereof extending up wardly as at or closure 8.
A shoulder 9 is formed on the inner surface of the wall of the opening providing a seat for the closure 8 which closure is coated with a sealing medium to form an air-tight connection between the closure and Wall of the opening.
The opposite end of the container tapers as clearly shown by Figure 2 of the drawing, the tapered end terminating in a flange 10 adapted to receive a suitable spigot for re leasing the contents of the container.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the tapered end of the container, fluid is directed to the opening 11 formed cen trally of the tapered lower end, eliminating the necessity of inverting the container to drain the same.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A container including a cylindrical body portion, having a convened upper surface formed with a central opening, and having a funnel-shaped bottom, said upper surface and bottom having openings, and means for closing the opening in, the upper surface.
in testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto atlixed my signature in the prose of two witnesses.
