GEORGE DOUGLASS, OF BBIDGEPOBT, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN SPIKE-BARS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,074, dated October 28, 1873; application filed August 16, 11573.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE DOUGLASS, of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Spike-Bars, of which the following is a specification Bars for drawing spikes on railroad-tracks and in other places are very liable to be broken, and they fail first in the claws. In fact, the claw is the only part liable to fail,
and if one claw fails the bar is rendered usesponding parts.
A is the lever, which is formed with a socket, B, in its end. This socket is preferably square or angular and made in the enlarged end of the lever, as represented in the drawing. C and D are the claws, which are made with from each shank.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A spike-bar having its jaws made separate, and removably attached to the lever, substantially as shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
