ELECTRIC LAMP FIXTURE.

Be it known that I, ADoLrrI C. BECKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakville, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Electric Lamp Fixtures; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this applicatiOn, and represent in- Fig. 1, a view partly in side elevation and partly in vertical longitudinal section of an electric-lamp fixture constructed in accordance with my invention and shown as installed.

l\Iy invention relates to an improved electric-lamp fixture, the object being to produce a simple, compact, effective and attractive fixture constructed with particular reference to convenience of wiring and accessibility thereto after installation.

lVith these ends in view my invention consists in an electric-lamp fixture having certain details of construction as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In carrying out my invention I form a cylindrical end-body 6, integral with the outer end of the tubular extension 7 of the fixture. the said end-body eing entirely open at its outer end and considerably larger in diameter than the extension 7 from which it is nominally separated. by a rounded shoulder 8. The endbody as shown is provided with the usual depending threaded nipple 9 to which the lamp is applied. I have used the term endbody to designate the part 6 of my improved fixture, since that term is in general use to describe the substantially spherical end-bodies now employed in similar fixtures and made independent of but permanently applied to the outer ends of their tubular extensions. At

its inner end the tubular extension 7, is formed with an abutment-bead 10 and an annular flange or neck 11 which latter is turned over the edge of a concentric opening 12 in the outer end of the canopy-like base or shell 13 of the fixture, whereby, the said extension is fixed thereto with the head 10 abutted against the outer face thereof. The outer end of the end-body 6 is normally closed by a beaded cap 14 having.

a knurled edge and secured by a mass 15 of solder or otherwise to the outer end of a long removable assembling-rod 16 the inner end of which is threaded as at 17 to adapt it to be screwed into a threaded hole 18 in the center of a circular skeleton mounting frame 19 having screw holes 20 for the reception of screws 21 by which the frame is secured to a wall-surface 22. The hole 18 is formed with a countersink 23 to facilitate the entrance in it of the threaded inner end of the rod 16. The several parts described are relatively proportioned so that when the flange 24 of the base 13 has been brought to a firm bearing upon the wallsurface 22, the cap 14 will have been drawn over and brought to bear upon the open outer end of the end-body as shown in Fig. 1.

By my invention I secure the utmost convenience at the time of wiring the fixture since at this time the end-body 6, the tubular extension 7 and the base 13 are entirely obstructed either by the cap 14 or the assembling-rod 16. As soon however as the wires have been threaded through the fixture, the removable assembling-rod is inserted through the open end of the endbody and passed thence through the tubular extension 7 and base 13 and so inserted into the counterbored outer end of the threaded hole 18 in the mounting-frame 19. For access to the wires. it is only necessary to remove the cap 14: by its knurled edge. bringing with it the rod 16. When these parts are removed the end-body is left fully open.

I claim:
