UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
ULYSSES A. lIUVE'l, OF GLENS FALLS, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATCH-CASE SPRINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,983., dated October 2, 1873; appli 'ation filed June 27, 1673.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ULYSSES A. JUVET, of ilens Falls, county of WVarren, State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in atch-Oasc Springs, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide for a more easily adjusted and better-fitting spring for watch-cases than heretofore known or used. My invention consists in securing and holding, by suitable screws and pins, the two watchcase springsone for opening, the other for holding the face-cover-to the plate on which the movement is fastened, instead of fastening or placing the same in the rim of the watchcase. 7
In order to more fully describe my invention, I refer to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
Figure I is a plan view of a watch-case with the face-cover thrown open, embodying my invention. Fig. II is a detached plan view of the plate on which the movement is fastened. Fig. III is a detached edge View of the same.
A is the rim of a watch-case, in which the plate B is placed, and to which the movement is fastened. G is the face-cover. D is the spring for throwing open the face-cover when released by the catch 6 on the end of the spring F. These two springs are placed on the edge of the upper side of the plate B and held thereto by aid of two pins, 9 g, fitting into grooves h it made in the end of the springs, and also by aid of two screws, 2' t, placed in holes through the ears j j of the springs D and E, said screws fitting into threads cut in holes in the rim of the plate B.
Having thus described my invention, I desire to claim-- 'Ihe springs D and E, with grooves h h and ears jj, fastened to the plate B, substantially as and for the purpose hercinbefore set forth.
ULYSSES A. J UVET.
Vitnesses WILLIAM Horonnrss, LoUIs P. JUVET.
