COOKING 'srovn .T0 all fr0/wm Maag/concern Be it known that I, ,ALFRED Street, Hobart, Stat-e oiiTasrnanien yAustralia, have invented certainrnew'and'uselful Improvements fin and.k Connected with Cooking'Stoves, of whichthetollowing is a specification; i
' This invention relates tothe construction of cooking stoves and has principally or'itsVv hereinafter to be described operating mainly kfrom the movement ofaslidingoven door.
vbars of the grate can,-from time to time, be
-i'reed of accumulations/of ash whichwill` But in' order to fully understand the inven# tion reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in Which-- Figure l is a front sectional elevation of the stove, and i i l Figure EZ a sidesectional elevation on the 1in@ A-B, Figure 1, through the tire boil.V Figure 3 is a ifront elevation ot the stove. Figure 4L is an end. sectional; elevation through the oven on line (1 -D, l `igiire 3, and y y p Figure 5 shows in detaill sectionalplan the operation of the vertical flue scraper'.`
The stove is provided with the usual oven and a fire box and the oven rines 6. The stove is constructed with a horizontal top flue leading over the oven from the re box and a vertical flue down one side oithe oven in each of which the seltacting scrapers are provided. The third liuc, or that below the oven and leading to thel uptake, is iilled with a tray, hereinafter described and which, on being withdrawn, will remove much of the dirt from below the oven. The door 7 or' the oven is adapted to slide horizontally between guides 8 on the stove, the fire box door 9 being similarly adapted to sideways slide, away from the oven.
The door 7 is connected through the wall of the root' flue to a framework 10 that is loosely' fitted to the flue and which, when the door 7 is moved to theopen position, will be slid along the flue in brushing contact with the stove top and the top of the oven. The frame 10 can be made of brazed plates Application inea March 21, wea 'seria1.1v.\545,55s.
and its movement there-in` will Vscrapel off send the scotland dirt into thetray Where ,fitwill ybe moved on and distributed by the 'Hue draught, This tray -is provided medially with a bai'ile'plate 111v the length of which is about one Ahaiil the tray depth and which serves tot-urnk the hot gases aroundto cony tact Ifwith the ovenbeyond the bai'iie, before rpassing tothe uptake iue 6%.r This tray is, `further, soconstructedas to occupyl the flue below the oven and has meanswhich, when the tray is withdrawn, will scrape soot from the oven bottoni.; f. I .y V
Tn `the side flue is a' second scraping frankJ 15 on which isa spindle mountingl a .freely moving rollerl, the spindle beingadapted. to move verticallyv with the roller in a slot 17 in the iiue wall. Connected to the oven door is an upwardly curving bow`18 on' which thefroller 16 rests andwhich, as the Y which, when heated, will nicely iitlthe iiue -MUNRo COURTNEY.FRA'rnasubject of the 'KingL or'k Grreaty Britain, residing at 117 kl-Iarrington` `acstimulated soot and push `it over into the door is opened, moves with it against the roller, thereby raising it and with it`V the frame 15. This iframe, like the member 10, is made to'iit nicely in the flue whenhot,
`without jamming, and its movement therein will brush orf accumulations of soot and dirt that will fall into the tray l1, assisted by the deflector 12. This latter may also be4 used as a damper to throttle the lire draught, when desired,'for which purpose lthe part mounting the wheel 13 can be calibrated to indicate its position within the flue. They plate y12 is mounted in the tray 11 and eX- tends from iront to rear of saine, thus clos-k ing the down flue when shut. A plate 19 is between the roller 16 and the slot 17, to cover the slot as the roller movesk therein.
Referring to the fire box and Figure v2 the lire bars 20 are arranged across the box from side to side. Under the bars is a front to rear plate 21 that is attached to the Vuryclean by the opening and closing of the oven door, and the dirt removed in the tray 11 from time to time, while Ythe grate bars ot the fire box are likewise freed of accumulations `of ash by the simple movement of sliding open the furnace door. v f
Having now described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let-r ters Patent is 1. ln'a stove m combination, a sideways sliding door to the oven, tramelike scrapers l*so connected'to the door as to be actuated therebyv to slide along the horizontal top flue landa vertical liue when the door is opened vand a removable tray below the oven occupying/the lower' horizontal Hue.
2.111 a stove in combination, a sideways slidingdoor to the oven, ranielile scrapers lsoy connected tothe door as to be actuated thereby to slide'along the top and side fines when the door is opened, a removable tra below the voven and a medial baille plate reaching from the back towards the front of the tray and beyond which is the stove uptake fflue. f
3. ln a stove in combination, a sideways sliding door to the oven, tramelike Scrapers so connected to the door as to be actuated thereby to be slid along the top and side i-lues when the door is opened, a removable tray below the oven in the lowest flue, a baille `in the tray and an adjustable deiector plate in the end of the tray immediately under the side flue.
d. In a stove in combination, a sideways sliding door to the oven, a ramelile scraper lconnected to the sliding` door in the topmost 1'iue,a scraper in ythe vertical flue, a spindle thereon anda freely running wheel onthe spindle@ slot in' the iue wall. through which thespindle projects and anv upwardly curving bow on the oven door that engages and raises the' wheel and scraper as the door slides open.
5.y ln a stove having a sliding door to the oven, vertical and horizontal Scrapers `in the flues so connected to the door as to be actuated thereby. to slide therein when the oven 'door is opened and a tray in the Hue below the oven, the combination with said parts of a fire box, a sliding door to the same, a plate attached to the door and upwardly tending teeth on said plate .adapted to come between the lire bars of the box, as herein described.
In testimony whereof I alix my signature.
' ALFRED MUNRO COURTNEY PRATT.
