Patented Dec. l2, 19222..
LOUIS W'. ALBIZU, 0F PONCE, PORTO RICO.
nxnnersrne Application filed July 15,
To (111 107mm it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS W. Ammo, a citizen of the United States, and a resident oi? Ponce, Porto Rico have invented a new and Improved Exercising Apparatus, oi?
and enact description.
This invention relates to exercising de vices and particularly to a weight or dumbbell and has for an object to provide a construction which may be used in the usual manner of dumb-bells and at the same time used in other forms of exercise.
Another object in View is to provide a weighted member readily grasped by the hand which presents anti-friction members to the floor or other surface against which it may be. placed when exercising.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of an embodiment of the invention with certain parts shown in section, said section being taken on line 1-1 of Figure 2.
Figure 2 is a sectional View through Figure 1 on line 22.
Referring to the accompanying drawing numerals, 1 indicates a handle which is provided with a grip 2, enlarged ends 3 and 4:, said ends having abutments or shoulders 5 and G and stub shafts 8 and 9 on which the end members or weights 10 and 11 are rotatably mounted. It is, of course, understood that the handle 1 and end members 10 and ll may be made from wood, metal or any desired material. and may be made ol any desired weight. The end members it) and 11 are substantially in the form 0i discs and are each provided with an annular groove 12 for receiving a. rubber tire l8 wherel'y the device may be placed on the floor, wall or other surface and rolled along as part of an exercise.
it is also evident that the device could be used as an ordinary dumb-bell. A shaft or bolt 14 extends entirely through the handle 1 including the shafts 8 and 9, said bolt having a head at one end and a nut 15 at the opposite end clamping the washer 16 in APPARATUS.

place. Preiteably, the shafts 8 and 9 e):-. tend beyond the end wei hts l0 and ll so that the nut 15 may be clamped firmly in place and yet allow ample play the end members so they will iii-rely rotate. Each 01 the end members is provided with a cap 17 hollowed out to accommodate the head and nut respectively of the bolt. Suitable securing screws 18 connect the caps with the respective end members 10 and 1]..
l t will be noted that the grip 2 is rounded to properly fit the hand and the enlargements 3 and are also rounded whilethe facing surfaces oi. PlflbETS l0 and 11 are chamfered or inclinec.
What I claim is 1. An exercising device comprising a handle, formed with a gripping portion, a pair ofenlargements and a pair of stub shafts. said gripping portion, enlargement and shafts being integral, a rotatable disk acting as a weight mounted on each oi said stub shafts, and means for holding the disks on the stub shafts without interfering with their rotation.
2. An exercising device comprisinga handle provided with a grip and extensions on each end of the grip, a disc-shaped weight rotatably mounted on each of said extensions, each of said disc-shaped members havmg a rubber tire on the periphery, and means for locking the disc-shaped men'ibers on said extensions while permitting a Free rotation thereof. i
3. An exercisingdevice ot the character described comprising a handle formed with a grip, a pair of enlargements at each end of the grip and a projection extending' from each oi. said enlargements, a rotatabie weight mounted on each of said enlargements, a bolt extending through said handle and overlapping at each end the extensions for holding the rotatable weights in posi tion on the projections, and a covering can secured to each of the rotatable member-is covering the ends of said bolt.
