S. LANGE-.
CURTAIN FIXTURE.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 1, 1922.

IN VENTOR v 5Lan e I ATTORNEY Dec 1922,.
sramsnaw Lanes, on rnILADELrH A, r nnnsrnvnma.
CURTAIN r rx'rnnn Application filed A r-iii,
To all whom it may concern.
v Be it known that I, SlANlSLAW LANGE, a citizen of Poland, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Fixtures, of which the following is a specilication.
Among the objects of this invention is that or providing a practical fixture for holding a curtain roll.
Another object is the means whereby the fixturemay be applied to the casing of a window and removed at will, without making screwholes or in any way damaging the woodwork of the window.
A li'urther object is the provision of means whereby the fixture may be positioned to suit curtains of any width.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel arrangement and combination of parts, hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of. this disclosure, and in 25 which Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the fixture applied to the window casing.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the fixture. a.
Fig. 3 is a partial sectional detail of the clamping elements.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates the top member of a window casing secured adjacent to frame 6.
Secured removably to the upper and lower edges of the casing member 5 are fixture elements 7 and 8, the former being bent to a right angle at its upper end 9, the extremity of which is downturned and bevelled to form a spur 10 extending along the width of the metal plate 7 and adapted to he forced into the casing member.
The adjacent fixture plate 8 is also provided with a right angled. bend forming an angular extension ll, and a downwardly depending angular retaining plate 12, having a toot element 13, is secured to the underside of the extension 11 by rivets 14 passing therethru.
Formed transversely thru the lower portion of the plate 12 is a slot 15 extending angularly upward from the center of the arcuate end of the plate.
An adjustment slot 16 is formed transversely thru' the plate 8 and the adjacent outer plate 7 is provided with an annular gageable in the slot 26 of the socket, when 1922. serial-Nd.- 548,573.
opening in line with the slot and adapted to receive a headed stud 17 having a flattened shoulder 18 suited to engage within the slot 16; a screw-threaded portion 19, of the stud extends freely thru the opening in the plate 7, and'is' threadably engaged thru the bottom of the hollow annular clamp socket 20.
A push button 21, having a flanged shoulder 22, is held within the interior otthe socket by inturning or spinning over the outer edge of the socket, forming an abutment for the button shoulder 22, as shown at 23 ofFig. 3. l
A coiled spring2l is interposed between the inner bottom of the socket 230 and the flanged-head 22 maintains the button in a normal outward position.
A pin 25 is fixed in the outer portion of the button 21-, and extends radially outward 1n a manner adapted to engage in groove 26, formed diametrically across the face of the socket end 23.
Referring to Figure 3, it will be seen that as the socket 20 is screw-threaded to the stud element 19, and the plate members are drawn in close engagement by the clamping action of the stud head 17 t acting thereagainst, the socket functioning as nut, rotating on the stud 19. i I 8 To obviate the use of wrenches or screwdrivers when applying, adjusting or removing the fixture, a self contained device is employedconsisting of a spring returned button 21 having an extending pin 25 enthe button is pressed inward, and in which position the socket maybe rotated, the pin acting as a lever while engaged wit-l the socket.
To prevent defacing of thewood-work, when attaching the fixture, cushioning pads 27 and 28 are secured to the corners oi the plates coming in contact with the window casing. h a
While pertain preferred ein'bmjlinients off this device have been shown and described it will be understood that changes in the form, varrange nents and details thereof may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claim. t
I claim I In a curtain fixture comprising a pairof bent plates attached to a window casing, one 110 of said plates having a vertically'disposed slot central therein, said plates being ad jnstably held adjacent one another by a clamp member consisting of a headed stud, a flatted shoulder slidable in the mentioned slot, a threaded end extending freely thru the. outer plate and threadablj engaging a hollow socket, a push button engagedwithin said socket, an operating pin fixed in the button, said socket having a slotreceptive of said pin when the button is pushed inwardly, means for turning said socket in either direct-ion, means for maintaining the button in normal outward position and means for preventing said button from being forced from said socket.
In Witness whereof I aflix m signature.
