Be it known that I, JOHN M. Ho'rHERsALL, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn in the county of Kings and State Y2ork,.have invented a new and usethe following is a specification.
`My invention relates in general to lcontainers, land has more particular reference to friction closures, and means for easily removing the same.
A principal object of the invention is the provlsion of a closure which provides practically hermetic sealing and which maybe removed with exceptional facility.
A further important object of the invention is the provision of such a closure, which is but slightly fractured in opening and which may serve as a temporary cover while the contents of thecontainer are being used.
A still further object yof the invention is the provision of a closure sbserving these objects and being of simple and inexpensive construction.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent as it is betterl understood from the following description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing illustrating a preferred embodiment thereof. i

Upon the drawings it will be noted that' the invention comprises a slip cover 11 having a depending flange 12 adapted lto frictionally engage an outwardly extending.

When this section is the contents of the container are belng con-A sumed. As previously intimated, it may be used for any type of opening which is closed by a frictionally engaged cover.
It is thought that the invention and many of its attendant advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it will be apparent that various changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the .parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing all of its materiai advantages, the

A friction closure for containers, hav- ,inga depending liange, an aperture therein disposed beneath the area of contact with a collar or fiange on the container, a slit between said aperture and the downward bend of the closure, and a narrow section beneath the aperture adapted to be easily broken to release friction'contact with said collar and permit removal of the cover, the metal of said dependin ange being continuous on a circumferentlal line arranged in a horizon-p tal plane below said aperture.

A nozzle closure for containers, comprising, a solid top portion, a depending flange adapted to `frictionally engage a collar on the nozzle, an aperture in the lower part of said'fiange, a slit between said aperture and the downwardbend of the cover, and a narrow frangible section beneath thev aperture, the metal of said depending Hangebeing continuous ona'circumferential line arranged in a horizontal plane below saidl aperture.,
