"WALL PROTECTOR.
Application filed December 29, 1919.
NING, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a cer- 5 tain new and useful improvement in l Vall Protectors, of which the following is a full, clear, and description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure l is a plan view of my improved protector.
Figure 2 is an end elevational view; and,
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the manner in which my improved wall protector may be used.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in wall protectors,-the object being to construct a device which is simple and cheap, and one which is light, portable and easily manipulated.
My protector is preferably formed from alvanized sheet metal, and is struck up from a blank in which there is a handle portion acent to a hand hole or opening, dis posed in a plane to one side of the main body portion of the blank, that edge of the blank which is designed to co-operate with the woodwork being preferably refolded.
upon itself to form a rounded. edge in order to protect the wall or the paper thereon from paint or other operations, such as scrubbing. which may be done in connection with the use of my improved protector.
In the drawings, A indicates a handle por- Serial No. 348,020.
tion formed by curling a tongue extending from one side of the blank, said handle portion bein substantially cylindrical in cross section. indicatesthe hand hole opening. 10
The shank of the handle is preferably flared outwardly, the line of bend between the shank and the body portion of the protector being indicated along the line a. The edge of the body portion opposite the haimlle is bent upon itself, as at C, so as to form an engaging lip which makes close contact with the woodwork. This rounded edge being smooth, is not liable to injure the wall or woodwork. 'hc. refoided edge C stifl'ens the body portion longitudinally, and in order to stiffen it laterally, transverse ribs 1) may be provided.
lVhat I claim as my invention is:
1. A wall protector consisting of a body portion having a handle shank extending from one side thereof, and a tongue portion which is curved to form a handle and constitute one edge of a hand hole opening in the shank'portion.
A wall protector consisting of a body portion having a handle shank extending from one side thereof, a tongue portion which is curved to form a handle and con stitute one edge of a hand hole opening in the shank portion, and reinforcing ribs staniped in the body portion.
