of apertures 2b, as determined by the number and sizes of the various conductors to be accommodated, and the latter are turned horizontally, passing below the walls of the pedestal and to their respective openings in the flange of the base, being thence led above the floor to their various external connections.
By means of this construction the lower walls of the pedestal are left unbroken, and are therefore stronger and more sightly than would be the case were they cut for the passage of the conductors therethrough, instead of through the base. Cutting of the'i'looring is also obviated, pro ision being made for conveniently passing the conductors under the pedestal and over the surface of the floor to connection with their conduits in the side walls of the room. Furthermore this arrangement permits the pedestal to be manufactured in a standardized form, the provision for the exit of the conductors being made in the base, which is preferably a casting of simple and inexpensive character readily adaptable to the requirements of each The construction also facilitates changes in the number or character of the conductors in that the base may be removed and formed with larger or additional apertures as the case may require, this being accomplished much more readily and eco nomically than would be the alteration of the pedestal itself.
The base securely supports the conductors in their proper relative positions, as well as excluding dirt, and adds to the finish and pleasing aspect of the lower portion of the pedestal.
We claim as our invention:
1. A dental apparatus comprising a hollow pedestal adapted to support dental apparatus, conductors in said pedestal for operating mediums for said apparatus extending downwardly through the pedestal to external sources of supply, and a supporting base for the pedestal and conductors including a frame having a bearing portion for the pedestal and a flange for supporting said bearing portion and pedestal in spaced relation with the floor on which said flange rests, said flange having openings therein for the passage of said conductors through the bot tom of said pedestal and through the flange above the floor 2. The combination with a dental apparatus support comprising a hollow pedestal, a plurality of dental apparatus thereon, and a plurality of conductors in said pedestal for operating mediums for said apparatus extending downwardly through the pedestal to external sources of supply, of a supporting base for the pedestal and conductors comprising a bearing surface for the pedestal having an opening therein and an apertured flange supporting said bearing surface and pedestal in spaced relation with the floor on which the flange rests, said conductors passing downwardly through thebottom of said pedestal and the opening in said hearing surface and outwardly through the apertures in said flange above the floor, and securing means for retaining the pedestal and base in position relative to each other and to the floor.
3. The combination with a dental apparatus'support comprising a hollow pedestal for the apparatus, a terminal board in said pedestal for electrical conductors for said apparatus, conductors passing from said board downwardly through the bottom of the pedestal, and fluid conductors for said apparatus passing downwardly through the bottom of said pedestahof asupporting base for the pedestal and conductors comprising a bearing portion for the pedestaland an apertured flange supporting said bearing portion and pedestal in spaced relation with the floor on which the flange rests, said electrical and fluid conductors passing under the sides of the pedestal above the floor and through the apertures in said flange to external sources of supply.
