T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS VVHITEHEAD HAWKINS, a subject of the King of Great Britain, andv residing at Acrefair Works, near Rua-bon, North lVales, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Machines for WVashing Wool and Other Fibrous or Textile Materials or Fabrics (for which I have filed an application in England No. 25788 dated OctoberQlst, 1919, Patent No. 160485), of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to machines for washing wools or other fibrous and textile materials and fabrics of the well-known type comprising a single propelling frame for moving the material along the bowl of the machine and extending for practically the whole length of the .main bowl and a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery end of the machine for facilitating the removal of the treated material from the machine or from one machine into another when the operation involves the use of a series of machines.
With machines of the above type as hitherto constructed it has been found impossible to deal satisfactorily with different kinds and qualities of materials, and it is the object of the present invention to remedy this defect by providing-a machine of the type referred to which is adjustable and adaptable in operation to suit the various materials with which it may be called upon to deal.
The invention consists in a wool washing or like machine of the type referred to in which the propelling frame and the delivery frame are operated by independently adjustable linkage systems driven from separate eccentrics or other driving means.
The invention also consists in a machine of the above character in which means are provided for adjusting the positions of the respective frames independently for the purpose of altering the paths through which the individual members of such frames travel.
The accompanying drawings illustrate one convenient form of machine in accordance with the invention.

In carrying my invention into effect in one convenient manner I provide the wool- 0 washing machine with a main propelling frame a and with an auxiliary discharge frame a (Figure 2) of usual or desired construction, the frames being adapted to be suspended from an entablature or framework Z) surmounting the whole of the machine.
The auxiliary frame is carried by the rods .7) and the main frame by the rods 5 The main frame is connected to the slotted link 0 by the connecting rod 0 and the auxiliary frame is connected to an independent slotted link (Z by means of a connecting rod d and cross-bar 0Z made slotted as shown in plan in Figure 3 in order to permit of the necessary movements of the rods 6 passing there through.
Each of the linkage systems is driven from its own separate eccentric or other operative member a, and I prefer that each eccentric should be adjustable on its shaft by means of tapered keys 7 (Figures 4 and 5) curved to fit the shafts on which the eccentrics are mounted or by the adoption of any other known contrivance, such adjustability being for the purpose of varying the paths through which the individual members of the frames may travel, in order to produce the best results as regards the passage of the material being treated through the bowl.
Moreover, the length of stroke of either or both the rakes may be varied as may he desired to suit the particular class or quality of material being treated by altering the positions of the eccentric rod pins in the slot-ted links 0, d.
It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the herein described means for operating and separately adjusting the' frames, as any equivalent means may be adopted for attaining the same ends.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is 1. A machine comprising in combination a single propelling frame for moving the V material along the bowl of the machine and a bowl a single propellin extending for practically the whole length of the main bowl, a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery end of the machine and separately and independently adjustable means for operating each of said frames.
2. A machine comprising in combination a bowl, a single propelling frame extending for practically the whole length thereof, a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery end of the. machine, separate linkage systems for actuating said frames and separately and independently adjustable eccentrics for operating said linkage systems.
3. A machine comprising in combination frame. extending for approximately the whole length thereof, a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery endof the machine, separate linkage systems for actuating said frames, separately and independently adjustableeccentries for operating said linkage systems and means by whichsaid systems may be adjusted so as to. vary the. paths through which the independent members of such frames travel.
4. A machine comprising in combination a bowl, a single propelling frame-extending substantially the whole length thereof, a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery end of the machine, separate linkage systems for suspending and actuating the respective frames and independently adjustable. eccentrics for operating the said linkage systems.
5. A machine comprising in combination a bowl, a single propelling frame extending substantially the whole length thereof, a supplementary discharge frame at the delivery end of the machine, independent-linkage systems for suspending and operating said frames, independently adjustable eccentrics for operating said linkage systems and means for adjusting the length of stroke of either of said frames.
