To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLEs C. MOORMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ducor, in the county of Tulare and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pumps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to deep well pumps and has for its primary object to provide a most efficient and practical apparatus for pumping oil or wateni rom deep wells with the utmost economy in operating and upkeep expense. v
Another object oi my invention is to produce a pump of the character described which may be manufactured at a comparatively modest cost and. with the parts there of readily replaced should occasion demand. A further object of my invention is to utilize the advantages of a double acting, lifting construction which may be operated from a common power source without using double the driving energy required in a sin gle acting construction.
Other objects and advantages will be ap parent during the course of the following description.

The confronting inner faces of the standards are made toreceive the ends of the bracing pins 21. and 22 to stabilize the guide plates 10 and 11.
Mounted co-axially upon the shaft 9 is a drivmg pinion 23 the same being housed within the yokes 3 and 4 and maintained in mesh with the continuous teeth 24 of both yokes.
The yokes are arranged parallel to one another and further include Outriggers each having continuous guide channels 25 formed on their respective sides these channels face the guide plates. These channels correspond to the general contour of the toothed inner edges of the yokes and the two adja cent channels of the two yokes are each contacted by guide roller 26 mounted in the adjacent standard (see Fig. 5). The position of the rollers in the channels corre sponds to the position'ot the driving pinion in the yokes the reason for which is obvious. Mounted on the extended end of the shaft 9 is a drive pulley 27 which may be driven by a belt from a suitable power plant. The primary parts of the apparatus are bolted or otherwise fixed together so that the same may be easily assembled or disassembled when occasion arises.
By driving the pulley 27 a drive will be transmitted to the pinion 23 which inturn will vertically reciprocate the yokes 3 and 4 in opposite directions thus'imparting a double actingdrive to the pump rods 1 and 2. The yokes in their reciprocation will be properly guided by the rollers 26 in the outrigger channels 25 which will keep the yokes in proper alinement at all stages in the cycles of operation and relieve any tendency of the same to bind or otherwise retard the drive.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope oi the subjoined claim.
