IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF WATER-TRAFS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,326, dated Sepember 30, 1873; application filed June 5, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. BUTLER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Water-Traps, of which the following is a specification:
The object of this invention is to produce a cast water-trap, from which the sectional core around which it is cast can be readily removed; and the invention consists in making such cast trap with a slot or a series of apertures, through which instruments for disengaging the sections of the core that are exposed through such seam or aperture may be conveniently introduced, so that thereby the collapse of the core may be insured.
In the accompanying drawing, the letter A represents a water-trap cast of lead or other suitable metal, and having a slot or seam, a, extending from end to end. This slot or seam has been removed from within the trap the slot or apertures should be closed by soldering, burning, or otherwise. The slot or apertures may be on any side of the trap.
What I claim as my invention is A water-trap cast with an open slot or with a series of apertures, substantially as and for WM. A. BUTLER.
