Description

.BAECKEB. GAS BURNER ATTACHMENT. APPLICATION FILED- M1349, I92!- Pmntedsep Jimzh/ 505622-73 ATTORNEY Patented Sept. 19, 1%22.

GAS-BURNER ATTACHMENT.
Application filed April 9,
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, him W. Biinonnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Gas-Burner Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an attachment for burners on gas stoves or analogous articles and an object of the invention is to provide a device which will conserve the heat generated by a gas burner and direct it against the object to be heated thereby permitting utilizing of the maximum heating efi'ect of the fuel used;
Another object of this invention is to provide an attachment for gas burners which may be easily attached to a gas stove of any approved-type and one which is simple in construction and consequently may be manufactured at a low cost.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following detailed description and in the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1. is a top plan of the improved attachment showing it applied to a fragment of a gas stove.
Fig. 2 is a view partly in section and partly in side elevation of the improved burner attachment, the said view being taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawing the improved gas saving attachment for gas burners comprises a substantially cylindrical. body 1 having its lower end closed by a circular base 2, which base is formed of any suitable sheet metal. and has its edges inturned over the base as shown at 3 for clamping a disc 4:, of any heat nonconducting material such as asbestos, mica, etc, upon the upper surface of the base 2. The side 5 of the attachment is formed of a sheet of metal bent to a circular shape and having its upper and lower edges 6 and 7 respectively, inturned or bent upon themselves to clamp the lining 8 therein which lining is formed of asbestos or analogous heat nonconducting material. It will be noted that 1921. Serial NO. 480,084.
the diameter of the cylindrical body 1, is such that the inturned edge of the base will effectively hold the body in place, thereby assuring the proper position of the body with relation to the burner. The side 5 of the gas saving attachment is provided with a cutout portion 9 which receives therethrough the supply pipe 10 which supplies the combustible fuel to the burner 11 of any approved type and in use the disc or base 2 is mounted upon the cross bar 13 of the stove structure 12, which cross bar forms a support for the base 4 and the base is also provided with a centrally disposed opening 14- which receives the depressed portion 15 of the burner structure 11. The base 2 is provided with air or breather openings 20. The side member 5 of the gas saving attachment encircles the burner 11 as shown in the drawing and prevents heat radiation later ally and downwardly from the burner causing all of the heat generated during operation of the burner to be deflected upwardly against the under surface of the utensil or article resting upon the burner, thereby permitting the utilization of all of the heat generated by the burnerjl]. and consequently the quantity of fuel necessary to heat any desired object to any desired degree.
It is, of course, to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners and the parts associated in different relations and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
As a new article of manufacture a gas burner attachment comprising a disc shaped base having its peripheral edge bent over its upper surface, and a cylindrical member having a diameter equal to the diameter of the upper surface of the disc enclosed by said edge, said member adapted to rest upon the disc and be confined in position by abutting relation with said edge.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
INEZ W. BAECKER.
