APPARATUS FOR REL-ASTING SHOES.

Application filed April 24, 1920. Serial No. 376,314.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HONORE MORIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Auburn, in the county of Androscoggin and- State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Rel-asting Shoes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an apparatus for relasting shoes, and the object is to provide means whereby the last may readily be inserted in the shoe after the latter is turned, and means for clamping and smoothing the heel portion of the shoe during the relasting operation.

A still further object is to provide in connection with the horn ordinarily employed in relasting, a clamping element for engaging and smoothing the outer portion of the heel of the shoe.

A still further object is to provide a horn including a clamping element pivotally connected therewith and adapted for manual operation by means of a handle, the elements being assembled to form a tool operating in a manner similar to the operation of a pair of pincers.

l/Vith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel con struction, combination, and arrangement of elements hereinafter described and claimed.

After the last has been inserted into the shoe in any preferred manner, the horn is thrust into the heel portion of the shoe, the clamping element being open, and when in position the handle is manually operated for the purpose of closing the clamp. The shoe and last are then placed on the relasting post, and the horn is thrust downwardly by pressing on the pedal connected therewith. In view of the action of the clamp,the heel is left in proper condition, the upper being perfectly smooth at the close of the operation.
