Be it known that I, HERBERT C. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States,and a resident of Greensburg, county of Decatur, and State of Indiana, have invented a certain new and useful Oven; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and

exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying;drawings, in which like numerals refer to like parts.

The object of this invention is to provide an oven with an adjustable partition or partitions so as to adapt the oven for use with a minimum number of burners or one burner, depending upon the size thereof, such as shown-and disclosed in my Letters Patent No. 1,109,263 issued September 1, 1914, for an adjustable oven.

Whereas the object of the invention is to decrease the dimensions of the heating compartment, whereby a large size oven may be readily adjusted to a smaller size oven with one or more compartments of the desired capacity, it is the particular feature of this invention to hingedly mount the adjusting partition member within the chamber for accomplishing this purpose.

- By means of this arrangement a partition may at all times remain within the oven when not in use or may be readily swung to operative position for dividing thecompartmentas above set forth. This results in not only a means for reducing fuel consumption and quicker heating of the compartment when reduced in dimensions, but enables'the positioning and adjusting of the partition within the oven more readily and easily than is the case with the slidable partition.

The full nature-of this invention will be understood from the accompanying drawings and the following description and claims. I

' In the drawings there is shown an oven 10 suit-able for a gas,'oil or electric stove and receiving heat from the burner or burners of a stove ll. Said oven is formed of sheet metal in the well known manner and with the usual drop door 12 provided with latches 13 for securing it in closed position. The

central portion of the bottom is cut away to allow'the heat from the several burners to pass upward into the oven. 11 heat deflector 14- is spaced mid-way between the front and rear walls and deflects the heat from the,

burners toward said front andrear walls, said heat deflector having a sheet metal top extending in a horizontal plane, and angularly disposed sides 15 formed on the under side thereof forming a triangle in cross sectionand thereby causing the heat deflected thereunder to be deflected laterally toward the front and rear of the oven, as shown in Fig. 3. I Surrounding the oven, between the outer walls thereof and the inner walls 16, there are formed dead air spaces 17 by the spacing of said walls for insulation purposes so as to reduce the radiation of the heat from the oven, all of. which construction is of the usual type well known in the art.

Mounted on the inner wall 18 of the top of the oven there are provided a pair of longitudinal guide rods 19 rigidly secured at each end and spaced from said wall, as shown in Fig. 2. Suspended from 'said'rods and slidably mounted thereon .there is an adjustable partition member 20 formed in a similar manner to the permanent walls of the oven and provided with the dead air space. 17 above described. Said partition member is, therefore, capable of dividing the even into two compartments of reduced dimensions and insulating to an appreciable extent the used compartment from the unused compartment. is provided with hinges or hooks 21 mounted in sliding engagement with the rods 19 so as to hingedly secure said'partition member to the top wall of the oven,permitting it to swing into vertical position when in use or be swung .into inoperative position adjacent the top of said oven and at the same time permit its slidable movement into adjusted position with respect to the ends of the oven for fixing the dimensions of the baking compartment.

The wall of said partition member adjacent the baking compartment is provided with horizontal ribs 22 corresponding to the ribs 221 horizontally positioned upon the inner end walls 10 of the oven for supporting the grid 24.
