UNIT SLAB FOR BUILDING W'ALLS.

To all 1n/0m t may concern Be it known that I, BENJALUN F; Davis, a citizen` ot the United States. and resident oit Miami, in the county oit Dade and State oi Florida, have invented a certain neiv and useful Improvement in Unit Slabs for Building llllalls, of which vthe following is a specification.
My present invention relates generally to building Walls, and more particularly to a unit slab capable ot being molded apart from the Wall in which it is to be utilised, and the formation upon either the site or' the building or rat a distant point as 'for instance at the 'factory or molding sheds from which the slabs may be distributed to the point ot erection, my'object being the provision olf a simple inexpensive slab through the use olf Which the joining ot slabs in `a wall may be readily completed and finishing, oi the inner surface ot the Wall as by means of plaster and the like may be readily completed. In theaccompanying drawing, illustrating my invention and formino; a part oit this specification, the figure is a perspective Viewr of a unit slab'ltor building Walls as proposed by my invention.
In the drawing I have shown a slab of generally rectangular form Whose body l0 is made up of concrete, molded with embedded transverse reinforcing; rods ll and vertical urring strips l2, the latter ot which proj ect inwardly beyond theinner 'lace of the body 1Q of the slab and extend from the top to the bottom thereof. These urring strips l2 are in unbroken relation in a solid slab and eX- tend above and below a trame such as a Window frame 13 with which I have shown the present slab equipped, and which is o course necessary in certain slabs of a Wall.
The embedding of the furring strips l2- and their permanent connection With the body of the slab is preferably etiected by means of spikes, nails and the like la driven partially into the inner faces of the iurring strips, with their projecting portions em-` bedded in the slab so that the urring strips act as reinforcements for the slab ina direction at right angles to the transverse ein- 1920. It is ot course to be understood that the spikes, nails or the like 14 are employed Where the turrinp; strips l2 are utilized of Wood and in case ot metal turring strips, parts oli' such strips are embedded in the cncrete body I0 rather than nails and lilre implements attached thereto so as to form a part thereof in the manner shown.
It is obvious that by virtue ot the turring strips 12, projecting as they do beyond the inner face or' the slab, the inner finishing oli' a Wall constructed of such slabs may be readily completed, the furl-ing strips providing for the ready reception et metal or other lath ift plastered Walls are desired, and also providing' for the ready reception of composition board and the like.
It is also obvious that by virtue ot the eX- tension of the ends of the transverse reinforcing,` rods ll beyond the side edges ot the slab, connection of adjacent slabs may be readily completed through the construction ot connecting concrete columns, pilasters and the like, in which the project-ing portions of the reinforcing rods of adjacent slabs will be embedded.
The slab proposed by my invention is thus capable of ready, quiclr and economical for* mation and may be effectively employed .in Wall constructions with the advantages heretofore mentioned.
A unit slab tor building Walls, formed of concrete and having 'furring strips em bedded from top to bottom therein and ei;- tending` inwardly beyond the inner tace thereof, and reinforcements including bars embedded therein at right angles to the turring strips and projectingr at their outer ends beyond the side edges ot the slab.
