MARTIN KAUFMAN,
OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOILET PACKAGE.V
Application led 'i'ebruary` To all fr0/0m if/may concern Be it known. that I, MARTIN lQUrMAN,
citizen of the `United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain` new and useful Improvements in Toilet Packages, of which the follmving is a specilication. f
This invention relatos generallyto toilet requisites, having more particular reference to a combination package containing requisites for the bath.`
y n The invention has for al general object tol provide anovel toiletpa'ckage of this kind, and also, in general terms, to provide for increased invigorating effect from the bath and the imparting to the bodjT of the odor of a flower essence. Wore specifically speaking the invention has for an object to provide a package comprising a `iar or bottle contain' ing perfumed sea salt into which is set a small bottle containing a concentrated flower essence.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Fig. 1 of the drawings is a side elevation of my improved package.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view thereo'ff, taken on the line 2--2 of Fig. 1.
F ig.'3 is a similar view of Fig. 2, but showing a modification.
Fig. 4 is a like view of a further modification.
Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the bottle shown in Fig. 4.. v
Fig. 6 is a detail side view showing another form of bottle for containing the concentrated flower essence.
Referring now particularly to Figs. 1 and 2 the reference numeral 10 indicates a `iar, preferably of glass and having a neck 11 forming a mouth which is closed by a cap also preferably of glass7 the neck and cap being here shown as formed with co-operating coarse screw threads 13 which are so arranged as to lock the cap in place by a single turn, or partial turn after the flange of the cap has been inserted a distance into the neck.
This jar 1() is filled with sea salt, indi- 13, 18122. Serial No. 536,068.
cated at 14,'whicli is preferably perfumed prior to placing in the j ar. As the perfume tends to dissipatev if the package stands for any considerable length of time,` as may happen between the time of ypreparation and the time it reaches the consumer, I insert in the top of the jar a small bottle' 16 containing a concentrated flower essence similar to that initially applied to the salt, the body of thisy bottle being embedded in the salt as p' shown, the mouth of the bottle being closed by anA ordinary cork 17 covered by a seal 18.
The construction shown in Fig. '3 differs from that shown in Figs. 1 and 2 4only in the formation of a recess in the cap 12 into which the cork 17 of the bottle is inserted and in which it is held by a suitable medi- 'umsuch as waX, indicated at 21.`
' In Figsd and 5 I have shown a further modification in whichthe perfume bottle 16 is of conical shape and provided with a short frusto-conical neck 25 receiving a shallow cork 26. This neck is inserted in a recess in the inner side of the cap 12a and is held therein by a lsealing medium 27 such as wax which is placed in a recess 28 in the cap and acts both to seal the mouth of the bottle and hold the latter in place on the cap, the walls of this recess being tapered as shown so as to prevent accidental dislodgment of the waX seal, and with it the bottle.
To prevent chance of breaking of this seal 27 r when the bottle is being forced downward into the salt in the jar I provide the cap with lugs 29 adapted to engage in sockets 30 formed on the bottle 16 to securely hold the bottle against relative rotation with respect to the cap. The seal 27, as will be understood, is suiiiciently plastic to permit of ready removal of the bottle from the cap 121l when the contents of the bottle are to be used.
As indicated in Fig. 6 I may employ a bottle having a straight body 31 and a pointed lower end 32 to facilitate the embedding thereof in the salt. This shape of bottle may be used with either of the modifications shown.
- When the salts are to be used the cap is removed from the j ar, the seal of the bottle of concentrated flower essence broken, and the contents thoroughly mixed with the salts. A small quantity of the salts is shaken into the bath water, and allowed to dissolve, producing an invigorating effect, While the concentrated flower essence, in addition to imparting a delightful odor to the body has a soothing effect on the skin.
Having thus described my invention what l claim as new and desire to protect by Let ters Patent of the United States is as follows:
l. A toilet package comprising a jar-like receptacle substantially filled with sea salt, a cap for said receptacle, oi concentrated Vfiower essence carried .by said cap, said cap being 4formed with' a rejcessy on its underside into which the top of saidvbottle projects, anl a plastic material set in said recess and act-ing to hold the bottle on the cap and seal the mouth thereof.
2.. A toilet .package comprising a jar-like receptacle substantially filled with sea salt,
a cap for said receptacle, and a small bottle of concentrated flower essence carried by sald cap, said` cap being lformed with arecess on its 1underside into which the top ot `said bottle p,rojects ,and .a ,plastic material :set in said recess vand acting to `-hold the `bottle on the cap and seal the mouth thereof, .said bottle being of conical shape.
toilet package :comprising a jar-like receptacle substantially filled with sea salt, a cap for said receptacle,`and a small bottle of ',concentratedwflower essence carried by and a small bottlev said cap, said cap being formed with a recess on its underside into which the top of said bottle projects, and a plastic material set in. said recess and acting to hold the bottle on the cap land seal the mouth there- ,trated iiower essence attached to the underside of said cap, and a plastic material acting to hold the bottle on the cap and seal `the month thereof.
5. A toilet package comprising a jar-like receptacle filled with sea salt, a screw-cap for said receptacle, a small -bottle of concentrated flower essence attached to the underside of said cap, and a plastic material actingto hold the `bottle on the cap and seal the mouth thereof, and co-Operating 'devices on said cap and ,bottle holding said bottle againstvrotation on said cap. n
In testimony whereof I have aiiixed my signature.
MARTIN KAUFMAN.
