To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDUARDO Throw, a citizen of Uruguay, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Bells, of
which the following is a specification.
The. invention is designed to provide an electric bell of extremely simple construction, it being composed of fewer parts than heretofore employed.
Contributing to this simplified form is the arrangement of the coil which is inserted or introduced into a recess or cavity of the supporting frame or base thus eliminating the use of screws, rivets insulated washers or other fastening means which have been employed' heretoforefor the purpose. Y

Figure 1 is a front view with parts in section and parts in elevation.
Figure 2 is a side view. Figure 3 is a detail. The frame or base 1 is of insulating material. This is cored out at 2 forming a. cavity of cylindrical shape the size ofwhich is in accordance with the diam- .eter of the coil and the voltage. This coil is simply slipped into the recess or cavity and is retained therein by any suitable means. The coil has at its center a tube of fibre 3 about which the wire is wound and this forms a cavity in which the striker rod 4 slides when the coil is energized, and the striker is thus projected" against the hell 5 to make the sound and at the same time the striker operatesthe interrupter 6, 6' to break the circuit allowing the hammer to retract and re-establish the circuit at this point. The above actions are repeated in rapid succession as long as the main portion of the circuit is closed Any coil which may be employed in accordance with the voltage to be carried and a single piece Specification of Letters Patent. function of sounding the bell and operating the interrupter. The striker is operated by the coil directly and not .through the intermediary of any other part.
The interrupter is of simple form. It may be constructed in different ways but in the particular construction illustrated it consists of two spring members which are mounted on the base and connected with the circuit wires and these spring members are separated to interrupt the current by the striker passing between them.
The striker has an insulating sleeve at 7 which interrupts the circuit when passing between the members at 6', 6'.
A spring 8 may be used to assist in returning the striker to normal position.
The bell is sup-ported on an integral extension 2' of the base or casing.
The striker is rounded at a. The wire 11 connects one pole of the coil with one of the interrupter members (6) at 12, and the wire 13 leads from binding post 15 to the other interrupter member 6 at 14.
The other binding post is shown at 15 and a wire 17. connects this with of the coil. F
I claim:
In combination, a bell, an electro-magnetic coil, a circuit therefor, a sliding insulated core within the coil, an interrupter consisting of two members in the path of the core normally in contact with each other and closing the circuit through the coil, but breaking the circuit when the insulated core is projected between them on its way to the bell, and means for returning the core to normal position after striking the bell.
