Description

.A. DISK. DRAIN'ING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT; 1, 1921- Patented Aug. 15, 1922.-

- imAiniNe nnv oiig 5 Be it known" that L'AUGUsr DISK, citiot the United"States residing atlioganville. 1n the-county of Sank and state of Nisconsin, have invented new and useful lmproveiiients in Draining Devices. of which the following is a specification.
My present invention pertains to the age of lands that is not only inexpensive to produce and maintain but is likewise simple in operation and requires the attention of but one person.
The invention in all of its details will be fully understood from the following description and claim, when the same are read in connection with the drawings, accompanying and forming part of this specification, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my novel draining machine.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the machine, and.
Figure 3 IS a detailed sectional view of the main beam and the device I employ to remove the dirt to permit free flow of drain age.
The invention as set forth in the drawings and specification will be fully understood from the following description and in said description similar numerals designate corresponding parts in all of the views of. the drawings.
My novel land draining machinery comprises the main beam 1 that extends approximately the full length of the machine and at a point slightly adjacent the center thereof, I provide the brace rod formed 01? iron or suitable material and provided with the cutting edge 2 as illustrated.
Secured to the beam 1 at an angle thereto at its upper end is a cross rod of iron or similar material and the said rod 3 is pivotally secured at its lower end to the lower end of the rod 2. It will also be seen that the dirt removing portion 4 is secured. to the lower end of the rod 2 through the medium of the pin illustrated clearly in Figure 3.,
. Specification of Letters Patent.

- "This dirt removing or rorciag traoa 4 comprises the most imp'ortant featur'e of my invention and by preferenceis formed ofiron closed 'atiit's endsf'and on onefend it is blunt and at its opposite end it is pointed whereby iitwill plow through jthe ground during opr'at-ion of the 'machine. I would distinctly have it understood that the rodorpipe 4 urpose."
is a rack S an'd secured to the upper end of the rod 5 is a lever 6 having the handle 7 and consequently the pipe or dirtremow ing element 4. Manitestly when the pawl of the lever or handle 7 is released from the teeth of the rack 8, the lever may be moved in either forward or rearward motion as is desirable when the operator wishes to point the pipe or dirt remover upwardly or downwardly. I
At its opposite. end from the rods 2 and the machine is provided with the traction wheels 11, preferably two in number, and the said wheels are secured to the axle shown which is bent as indicated by 12 and the beam 1 is secured to the bent, portion of the said axle.
Permanently secured to the rod 2 is the draw bar 185 and extending from the outer. end of the draw bar 13 tothe free or outer end of the beam 1 is a chain 14. i As shown in Figures 1 and 2, I provide the circular disk having the outer cutting edge and the beam 1 is supported on the axle of the disk as shown. v
In the practical operation of the machin-' ery, the dirt removing or forcing element t is pushed into the ground to the depth desired. and power is applied to the draw bar.
This will forcethe pointed end of the por- 100 squarepbut it is the purpose of this inven- 105 tion to eliminate the'necessit-y of digging a trench and then laying. pipe. With my novel machine, the dirt will be forced to one side and a perfectly open space produced beneath the ground in such a manner that it 110 will remain in said position for many years.
The device as before statedmay be raised maybe ofi'anydiameter icompa'tiblewithits f or lowered by simple manipulation of the lever 6 and during't'h'e operation ofi.the-in.- vention the colter or disk 10 as Well as the cutting edge of the rod 2 will materially asas fairly fall Within the. scope ofmy appended claim Having described my invention, What I claim and. desire to secure by Letters Patent., is;,
ln means for the purpose; set forth, the combination of a main beam a small: disk Wheel secured-at a point slightly beyond the transverse; center of the beam traction Wheels secured upon the beam in ,front ot' v thedislqwheel, downwardly extendingbrace greases rods depending fromthe main beam, angle brace rodsisecuredwto the first named brace rods and at an angle on the main beam,
1 beam an arm secured to the movable rod,
a rack mounted onthe main beam and adapted to act as a fulcrum for the arm, a dirt removing log having a pointed end secured toi the brace rods and movable rod, and a draiv bar mounted on theupper endof certain of the, brace I rods.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set .t
my hand in presence of two-subscribing Wit- IIGSSGS.
