Description
EMMA}. WHITMAN.
Kettle and Pan Scrapers.
N0. 142,602, I Patented September9,1873..
mwssesh Zkrefl/or UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
E MA J. WHITMAN, or OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN KETTLE AND PAN SCRAPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,602, dated September 9,1873; application filed June 2,1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mrs. EMMA J. WHIT- MAN, of Oakland, in the county of Alameda the metallic stem B, and, being formed of a single piece, it is cut in line with the center of the stem up to or near the stem; then bent at an angle of from thirty-five to forty degrees, so that when held in the hand with the stem down, and either side being held front, the left blade will incline at the angle required for scraping.
When a pot or other vessel with a concave bottom is to be scraped, the curved-edged scraper 0 is used, being turned to the left and drawn back in scraping, which is the process for scraping all concave surfaces. When pans or flat-bottomed vessels are to be scraped, the scraper D, having the right lines, is placed to the left, and used in the same manner, being drawn back in scraping, as described.
It will be readily seen that the blades 0 and D being bent up and set at the angle described leaves the one entirely out' of the way while the other is in use; and, further, that the form of the scraper G is adapted to a great variety of curved surfaces, being a short curve at the outer end, and gradually changing to a long curve on the lower face, while the scraper D has the outer corner an acute angle, and the end and lower face right lines, thereby completely adapting it for the purpose of scraping a great variety of fiat and angular surfaced vessels.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The culinary scraper with handle A, stem B, and blades 0 and D, constructed and operated in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
EMMA J. WHITMAN.
