In operation the power transmitted to the mandrel el'l'ects rotation ot' plate n' around its own axis` this resulting in cansing turning moveinent at the same speed to the worin wheel. but as said wheel is ifiawaa disposed ont oi perpendicular with respect to the axis ol' said plate. the grinding wheel is caused to travel bodily in a circle. At the aaine time the rapid rotation imparted to the flexible shaft 33. imparts a corresponding rotation to the grinding wheel around itaI own axis. the said sha t't weaving vor bending to accommodate the angular relation thereto ot the shalt '227. liv the arrangement described it will be apparent that an etlieient grinding action is obtained and that through the adjustment ot' the worm wheel explained. the circle described h v the grinding wheel can be made larger or smaller within the limit of the device. the pitch ol the tace t1 ol plate e' determining the angular relation ot' the axis ot' shaft 2T with respect to the axis ol s'hat't 33.
From the above description it will be apparent that l have ln'odnced a grinding attachment t'or lathes which embodies the features ol advantage set torth as desirable in the statenen't ot the object oll the in vention. and it is to he understood that while I have illustrated the preferred embodiment olI the invention. it is susceptible of modification in various particulars without departing 'trom the principle ol con struction and mode ol` operation involved.
