BOTTLE PROTECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 1, 1922.
Application filed August 19, 1919. Serial No. 318,434.
a simple and inexpensive means for protecting a bottle ,or similar frangible container, and more especially designed for use in connection with nursery bottles as a means,
not only of preventing the breakage thereof in the event of falling but as a protector for the hands and the means ofpreventing the soiling of clothing, etc. and incidentally as a means of retaining heat or preserving a substantial uniformity of temperature.
Further objects and advantages will appear in the course of the following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, it being understood that changes in form and proportion may be resortedto within the scope of the claim without departin from the principles involved.
In t e drawings:
Fig. 1 is a side view of the protector applied in the operative position to a nursery bottle.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same.
Fig. '3 is a detail View indicating a preferred' means of fastening the protector to the bottle.
Essentially the protector consists of a casing 10 of rubber or equivalent yielding and elastic, material having an incor 0- rated reinforcement 11 of canvas or 0t er fabric which reinforcement i should be multipled or increased by providing a plurality of layers as shown as 12 near the upper end or mouth of the sack as suitable anchorage for the fastening means which may consist of the complementary snap elements 13 and 14.
It will be understood that in shape the casing should be ada ted to that of the bottle or other container or which it is designed so as to fitthe same with reasonable accuracy, the opening at the mouth being only of such dimensions as to permit of the introduction of the receptacle which is designed to embrace the same snugly, and interiorly the casing should be provided with spaced knobs or projections 15 for engagement at their rounded terminals with the'surface of the bottle so as to cushion the latter in the event of ar or shock to prevent breakage.
It will be understood that the interior accessibility of the casing will permit of ready cleansing and sterilizing thereof and when applied it will serve to cover the bottle with the exception of the extremity of the neck thereof so as to avoid the breakage to which articles of this kind are subjected through the accidental dropping thereof, and at the same time the heat non conductive material employed will serve as a means of retaining temperature at a substantially uniform degree for considerable period while protecting the hands grasping the same.
The invention having been described, What is claimed as new and useful is:
A bottle enclosing case made of elastic material and having an incorporated fabric reinforcement, the casing belng formed at the upper end with a mouth and associated fastening means therefor to permit the mouth being disposed snugly around the neck of a bottle, the casing on the interior wall being provided with spaced knobs or projections having rounded terminals for abutting engagement with the bottle held in the casing, whereby the bottle is held spaced from the interior wall of the casing.
In testimony whereof he affixes his signature.
