To all whom if may Concern Be it known that I, JAuns C. ARMSTRONG, a citizen of'the United States of america, and a resident of Beloit, county of Rock,
and Stateof Wisconsin, have invented cerd provide an improved form of fan adapted to occupy a minimum of space and having` a greater eiiiciency than fans heretofore used;- to provide such a fan of simple and i durable construction capable of manufacings, in whichtitl ture at a low cost with labor of-ordinary skill; and to provide a combined shield and draft flue in connection therewith adapted to avoid eddy current and friction losses and to accommodate the most eficient transmission of air to and from the fan.
An illustrative embodiment of this invention is shown in the accompanying draw- Fig. 1 is mainly a vertical section through the fan and related parts along the axis of the fan shaft.

In order to properly direct and control `the flow of air, said fanv is mounted in a draft passageway .or Aflue 4 having an inlet aperture 5 in front of said fan and preferably concentric threwith, though somewhat smaller in diameter than the periphery of said fan.

The fan proper comprisesa circular disk or back plate 7 and a peripheral series of oblong triangular blades or vanes 8 disposed radially on the front side thereof with their wide ends disposed outward.

1n order to provide for convenient attachment of the backfplate 7 to the shaft 3, a hub 11 is provided adapted to receive the end of 'said shaft in snug fitting relation and providedwith a flange 12 which is secured to said' back plate by means 13, rivets also being well adapted for this use. A fastening 14, for example a pintle, is provided to secure the hub in place onfthe shaft.

It is apparent that this fan is of such simple construction that, Awith the exception of the hub, it may be madevreadily -froin ings of'- simple Acharacter furthermore, in case of lvantage of these fans'has been demonstrated by extensive use and their etficiency has been proven -by carefully conducted tests carried out under my` observation and direction.
Although but one Specific embodiment ot this invention has been herein shown and described, it will be understood that numerous details ot the construction shown may row ends pointing' inwardly.l
