To all to homit may concern Be it known that we, JAo UEs SCHNEIDER, a citizen-of the Swiss Republic, residing at Solothurn, Switzerland, ERNST IIURLIMANN, a citizen of the Swiss Republic, resid ng at Zuchwil, Canton Solothurn, Switzerland, and FREDERIC BILLoN, a citizen of the Swiss Republic, residing at 'S olothurn, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Magneto-Electric Ignition Machines for Internal-Combustion Engines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide improved means in magneto electric ignition machines for internal combustion engines, for enabling the entire adjustable interrupter mechanism to be removed from the casing of the ignition machine, for instance for the purpose of inspection, repair orcleaninggand to be replaced ready for use by undoing screws or other separate attachment devices,in a very simple manner, and so that there will be no'risk either of the inner parts becoming soiled'or of any part becoming loose in working.
According to this present invention the non-rotating part of the interrupter mechanism is mounted in a supporting member which surrounds as far as possible on all sides the cam plate which is mounted on the rotor shaft of the ignition machine for the.
purpose of operating the interrupter contact. This supporting member is fixed to the machine casing by means of a concentrically rotatable fixing ring which is provided for this purpose with a bayonet fastening that is kept in its closed position by a spring. By overcoming the force of the spring, the fastening can be undone a d the interrupter mechanism removed from the machine.

In order that there shall be no necessity to undo any contact screw for the purpose of removing the interrupter mechanism, the insulated contact Z is supplied with current, not by means of a cable, but by means of .a spring contact brush a: that is fixed in an insulated manner to the casing e.
The supporting member it together with all the parts fixed thereon is held by a fixing ring at by means of three nib-s 'n that are adapted to slide in the annular groove 0 of the machine casing c. When it is desired to detach the interrupter mechanism from the casing e, the operator rotates a handle 10 of the ring am into the mid position (indicated by dot and dash lines), whereby the nibs n. are brought opposite slots 9 in a rib 7 that covers the groove, so that the entire interrupter mechanism canthen be removed in the axial direction from the groove 7 in the bearing nut. In the working of the appa ratus the ring m is constantly pressed by a spiral spring 8 against a stop 15 of the casing, so that it cannot become undone of itself. In the axial. direction it is secured by a cover a which is fixed by means of a screw 1) to the interrupter-supporting member, and which also carries the lever to r'or varying the point of ignition, the movement for this latter purpose taking place in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 2) in opposition to the force of the spring 8.
If the apparatus is to be constructed for varying the point of ignition by movement in the opposite direction, it is merely neces sary to turn the spring 8 over in such a manner as to cause the interrupter casing it together with the lever w fixed thereon, to be pressed. against a symmetrically situated stop. Consequently the handle 79 of the holding ring m will be moved back against a symmetrically situated stop 25'.
As shown, the interrupter mechanism is completely inaccessible in its built-in condibe inspected during the Working. The other parts are only accessible after the removal of the interrupter mechanism as a whole.
A great advantage of the illustrated construction is afforded further by the double mounting oi the interrupter-supporting member 71 which can be rocked by means oi? the lever w for the purpose of varying the point of ignition. This supporting member is mounted. not only by means oi the centring ring in the bearing nut (Z, but also on the outside of the cam plate 6 in the machine casing c by means of an annular projecting rim on the cover u.
lVhat We claim is 1. A magneto electric ignition machine including an adjustable interrupting mechanism on a rockable supporting piece which surrounds an actuating cam as completely as possible on all sides, a fixing ring carrying a cover rotatably mounted on said supporting piece, a spiral spring co-acting with said fixing ring and said rockable supporting piece, tending to rotate said fixing ring and said rockable supporting piece in 0pposite directions and an abutment on a part of the main casing of the magneto limiting the movement of the said fixing ring and cover.
2. A magneto electric ignition machine including an adjustable interrupting mechanism on a rockable supporting piece which surrounds an actuating cam as completely as possible on all sides, a fixing ring carrying a cover rotatably mounted on said supporting piece, a spiral Spring o-acting with said fixing ring and said rockable supporting piece, tending to rotate said fixing ring and said rockable supporting piece in opposite directions, an abutment on a part or the main casing of the magneto limiting the movement of the said fixing ring and cover, and means including a bayonet device permitting the removal of the said rockable carrying piece together with the fixing ring and the attached cover from the machine casing when the fixing ring is ro tated against the action of the said spiral spring to a position away from contact with the said abutment.
A magneto electric ignition machine in eluding an adjustable interrupting mechanism on a rockable supporting piece which surrounds an actuating cam as rompletetv as possible on all sides, a fixing ring carrying a. cover rotatably mounted on said sup porting piece, a spiral spring co-acting with said fixing ring and said rockable supporting piece, tending to rotate said fixing ring and said roekable supporting piece in opposite directions, an abutment on a part of the main casing of the magneto limiting the movement of the said fixing ring and over, means inc-hiding a bayonctilcvice permiting the removal 01' the said iockable carrying piece together with'the fixing ring and the attached cover from the machine rasing when the fixing ring is rotated against the action of the said spiral spring to a posi tion away from contact with the said abutment, and an extension on said cover for adjustment of the timing of ignition.
