BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Pwgqgnflggdl June 13 1922 Application filed March 21, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS B. Nnwnnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, and State of Maryland, have invented a new and useful Bottle, of which the following is a specification This invention relates to a glass bottle, one of its objects being to provide a blown bottle having a solid base from which project upwardly extending faces terminating between the ends of the bottle and which are preferably translucent, so as to correspond with the translucent solid base, the remaining faces of the bottle being transparent whereby when the bottle is filled with a colored liquid, it has the appearance of being a two part structure made up of a container supported between prongs upstanding from a base.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as'the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that within the scope of what is claimed. changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.
In said drawings Figure 1 is a central vertical section through the bottle.
Figure 2 is an elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a section on line 33, Figure 1.
Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a solid base the bottom face of which is preferably concaved as shown at 2 while the margin of the base is preferably rounded as at 3 so as to merge within an annular shallow concaved depression 4 extending up to the level of the top of the solid base. Formed on this solid base is the container portion 5 of the bottle which, in the present instance, is formed with down wardly converging faces6 of transparent material and which faces diverge downwardly toward the base. These faces 5 are preferably cut polished so that a colored liquid will clearly show therethrough. The faces 5 are straight from side to side and Serial No. 545,502.
in the preferred form of the device these faces 7 and the base 1 are frosted. Thus it will be apparent that the bottle has the appearance of a container made up of the faces 6 supported on the base 1 and between an annular series of fingers simulated by the faces 7. A very attractive bottle is thus provided at slight cost and which produces a unique effect not otherwise obtainable. Where a colored liquid is contained within the bottle the contrast between the transparent faces 6 and the translucent faces 7 is particularly noticeable and the effect herein described is brought out with considerable prominence.
By providing the solid base 1 the danger of overturning the bottle is reduced to the minimum because this solid bottom acts as a weight for bearing firmly on a supporting surface. Although the translucent faces 7 have been described as rounded it is to be understood that they can be straight from side to side if desired, this modified structure being obvious.
What is claimed is l. A one piece bottle simulating a two part structure and comprising a solid base, a container portion upstanding from the base and integral therewith and having downwardly diverging transparent faces terminating adjacent the top of the base, said base being translucent and there being upwardly diverging translucent faces on the container and between the diverging portions of the transparent faces, thereby to simulate a pronged base holding a container.
2. A one piece bottle comprising a solid translucent base and a container portion integral with and extending upwardly from the base, said container portion having transparent faces spaced apart at their lower ends and terminating adjacent the base, there being translucent faces between the spaced portions of the transparent faces and Inerging into the surface of the solid base, the as my own, I have hereto a1 XGCI my signatranslucent portions of the bottle simulating ture in the presence of two Witnesses. a base having upstan hng prongs and the LOUIS B. NEVELL transparent portlon or the oontalner snnulating a receptacle supported on the base and Witnesses: between the prongs. IVALTER R. LEAoH,
In testimony that I claim the foregoing JEAN WV. Brorss.
