Be it known that I, EUGEN' Back, a citifun of the German Republic, and resident of Charlottenburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an. Improved Coating for the Preservation of Wood, Pasteb'oard, Mason Leather, Sheet 1 Iron, Fabric, and the like gfo 1' which I have made application in Germany Oct. 25, 1919), of which the followingis a specificatiorn The object of'this invention is to provide an improved coating for the preservation of wood, pasteboard,g masonry, leather, sheet iron, fabric and the like).
The improved coating is composed of minium and tar, with the addition of a suitable diluting product and colouring substances if desired. A mixture of 3 to 5 arts of miniumand 1 to .2 parts of woo tar with the addition of turpentine or its equivalent has been found particularly convenient. For the ingredients mentioned, their. chemical equivalents may be substituted, for instance, zinc-white maybe substituted for niinium and xylidin. for turpentine.
The coating has properties which could not be expected from the'same. The coating without diluting liquid composed of 4 to 5 parts of minium and 1 part of wood tar has been proposed heretoforevmerely for the purpose of coating I screw-shafts of ships against rust. Y

It will be obvious that it is impossible to enumerate all the possibilities of uses of the improved coating mass and therefore we wish it to be understood that applications which are not mentioned in this specification are also contemplated by my invention.
Having now fully described my said invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. An improved coating for the preservation of wood. pasteboard, masonry, leather, sheet iron, fabric and the like, composed of minium, tar and a diluting liquid mixed together, substantially as set forth.
2. An improved coating for the preservation of wood, pasteboard, masonry, leather, sheet iron, fabric and the like, composed of .minium, tar, diluting liquid and coloring substances mixed together, substantially as set forth.
3. An improved coating for the preservation of wood, pasteboard. masonry, leather,
sheet iron, fabric and the like. composed of 2-5 parts of minium and 12 parts of woodtar, mixed with a diluting liquid, substantially as set forth.
4. 'As a new article of manufacture pasteboard coated with a mixture of minium, wood-tar and diluting liquid, substantially as set forth.
5. As a new article of manufacture, pasteboard coated on both sides with a mixture of minium, wood-tar and diluting liquid, substantially as set forth.
6. As a new a'rticfe of manufacur'e, pasteboard coated with a mixture of 2-5 parts of minium, 1-2 parts of wood-tar and a diluting liquid, substantially as set forth.
7. An improved coating for the preservation of wood, pasteboard, masonry,
9.'An improved coating. for the preservation of wood. pasteboard, masonry, leather, sheet iron, fabric, and the like, composed of three fifths parts of minium, and approximately one part of wood-tar mixed with a diluting fluid.
10. As an article of manufacture, pasteboard coated with a mixture of threefifths parts of minium, approximately one part of wood-tar, and a diluting liquid.
