Application filed April 26, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, MAX PRILUKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in liasks, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to devices for securing elastic cords and the like to masks or similar devices, and the object is to provide an exceedingly simple coupling element that may be cheaply manufactured, can be quickly and eltectively secured to the cord, and also easily engaged with the mask.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the application of the device.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the coupling" blank,
Figure 3 is a perspective view on an enlarged scale, showing the structural features.
In the embodiment disclosed, the blank is preferably composed of a flat piece of sheet metal that may be easily bent and comprise a rectangular body portion 3, from one end of which a longitudinally disposed narrow tongue 4: projects, the end of the body portion on opposite sides'of said. tongue forming stop shoulders 5. The body is provided between its ends and in it opposite side margins with notches 6, thereby producin side wing portions 7, and between these wing portions are formed indentations producing spurs 8.
In applying the coupling to an elastic cord or the like, a portion of? which is shown. at 9, the wings 7 are bent around the cord, forming a tubular cord-enclosing portion Specification of Letters Iatent.

so that the spurs 8 are embedded therein. lhe tongue 4 is passed through the margin of the mask in a manner readily understood and is then bent to form a hook.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, operation and many advantages of the herein described invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, without further description, and it will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A device for coupling cords to masks and the like, comprising a flat blank of sheet metal. having a body portion of substantially the same width throughout and having notches in its opposite margins, a tongue portion extending from one end and. narrower than the body portion, forming stop shoulders, said tongue portion adapted to be bent to form an article engaging hook, the portion of the blank between the notches and the end opposite the tongue being adapted to be bent into cylindrical shape to engage a cord, and having indentations on one side forming spurs on the other side which also engages the cord.
In testimony whereof, I n1 in the presence of two witnesses.
