To all whom it may cancer-n:

Be it known that I, HERMAN C. LrroI-I- FIELD,'L citizen of the United States,residing at \Vaukegan, in the county of Lake and State 'of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates 'to a dispensingapparatus and has for its primary object the construction of an apparatus of this character capable of dispensing'variousarticles of various shapes, one at a time or in quantities depending upon the exact association of the parts.

A feature of the invention is the novel construction of the receiving device so that the operation'of certain parts will be automatical so that it is only necessary for the operator to give-attention to the removal of the article.

A feature of the invention is the novel manner of constructing the receiver and associating same with 'the catch so that an article can be readily removed and the weight of the remaining articles properly supported.

With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein Fig. 1 is a diagrammatic View showing the receiver in position to receive an article.

Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the receiver forced to a position to allow the article to be removed.

Again referring to the drawing illustrating one construction of my invention in a diagrammatic manner the numeral 1 designates a tube of any required shape or size to accommodate the articles to be dispensed.

This tube is provided with an offset portion tion I have shown'the post 7 as connected to the receiver slidablymounted in any suitable supper-t6. A spring 8 acts to force the receiver into the tube to the position illustrated in Fig. 1 so as to receive an article. My improved retaining device conwill be automatically forced to its normal position toallow anotherarticle to gravitate into position within the recei'ver i. From this construction it will be seen that it is only necessary for the operator to push the receiver down and ticle as the operation of the otherpa-rts is automatic.

A feature of-my invention isthe construction and association of parts in such a manner that articles of various shapes and sizes may be accommodated in the tube without the necessity of limiting the construction of a tube to a particular design. In concluding'my description I wish to call attention to the fact that the drawing illustrates my invention in a diagrammatic manner, therefore it is to be understood that the construction and association of parts may be accomplished in various other manners and the association of the receiver with the tube changed in a plurality of manners and, therefore I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:

1. A dispensing apparatus comprising a tube supporting the articles to be dispensed, a receiver arranged at the lower end of the tube and having inclined wall for slightly displacing an article with relation to the tube when received by the receiver, a spring arranged to force the receiver into its proper relation with the tube, and a catch arranged to support the articles in the tube when an article is being removed by the receiver.

A dispensing apparatus comprising .a tube supporting the articles to be dispensed, a receiver arranged at the lower end of the tube and having inclined wall for slightly displacing an article with relation to the then remove the ar- I tube when received by the receiver, a spring arranged to force the receiver into its proper relation with the tube, and a catch arranged to support the articles in the tube when an article is being removed by the receiver, said inclined wall being arranged to automatically retract the catch when the spring has forced the receiver to a position to receive another article.

3. In a dispensing apparatus, a tubular container having an offset portion, a receiver to receive articles from the tubular container and mounted for movement longitudinally of the tubular container to displace articles received flOm the container, means for preventing displacement of articles in said tubular container during re moval of one article by the receiver, said re ceiver adapted to operate said means to permit release of an article from the container when the receiver has been returned to a receiving position.

In a dispensing apparatus, a tubular container having an offset portion, a receiver to receive articles from the tubular container and mounted for movement longitudinally of the tubular container to displace articles received from the container, means for preventing displacement of articles in said tubular container during removal of one article by the receiver, said receiver adapted to operate said means to permit release of an article from the container when the receiver has been returned to a receiving position, a rod for guiding movement of said receiver, and a spring about said rod and engaging said receiver to return it to a receiving position.

5. A dispensing apparatus comprising a tube supporting the articles to be dispensed, a receiver arranged at the lower end of the tube and movable in a direction longitudinally of the tube, said receiver provided with an inclined surface to displace the articles laterally of the tube when received by the receiver, and a catch arranged to support the articles in the tube when an article is being removed by the receiver.

6. A dispensing apparatus comprising a tube supporting the articles to be dispensed,

a receiver arranged at the lower end of the tube and movable in a dlrectlon longitudi- .nally of the tube, said receiver provided with an inclined surface to displace the articles laterally of the tube when received by the receiver, and a catch arranged to support the articles in the tube when an article is being removed by the receiver, a guide rod attached to said receiver, and a spring about said guide rod to return the receiver to a receiving position after removal of an article thereby.
