@Another object of the invention is to provide a bag holder in which a hanger may be slidably` connected with a supporting strip in a very efficient manner, the hanger being permitted to have free sliding movement but prevented from having transverse movement and spring means being provided. to `limit downward movement of the hanger.

Another object of the invention is to provide improved means for adjustably cone 1 necting the `supporting strip with a standard sothat this supporting strip can be vertically adjusted and securely but releasably heldin the adjustedposition.

Another object of the invention is to provide` a bag holder so constructedlthat the bag may `be easily `and quickly connected with theyhol'der and "further so constructed that there will be no dan er of the bag accii dentally` slipping out o. engagement with the holder.

This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

. with a standard 1 which is carried by a base 2 and connected with the base by means oi brackets 3. This standard is provided adjacent its upper end with an opening to receive the securing bolt 1l and adjacent its lower end is provided with a longitudinally extending recess or pocket 5 trom which leads openings 6. A supporting strip 7 is carried by this standard `1 and is provided with outstanding side iianges 8 and with `a longitudinally extending slot 9. This supporting strip may be formed from a single length oit channel Yiron or may be formed of two` separate strips oil? angle iron which will. be connected at their upper and lower ends by cross strips 10 and ll. The securing bolt ffl passes through the slot 9 and carries a washer 12 and winged nuts 13 which will be tightened to bring the washer plate 12 into tight engagement with the side portions of the supporting strip 7 and hold the strip against longitudinal movement. The cross strip 11 at the lower end of the supporting strips carries a pin 1-1 which is secured by securing

15 and 16. `The securing nut 1G extends into the pocket 5 and the pin 111 is intended to pass through into a selected opening 6 so that the strip may be vertically adjusted and supported in the adjusted A bracket 17 position by means oi the pin. is -carried by the suigniorting strip intermediate its height and provided with arms having inwardly extending end portions `17 :for engaging a hanger 18 formed with side flanges 119 and having at its upper end a tongue which is bent to provide a bearing 20 in. which will be mounted an anchor 21 which is provided with hook-shaped end portions for engaging the lower ends oi springs 22. These springs 22 have their upper ends connected with ayoke 23 which is .suspended in openings formed in the side flanges 8 of thestrip 7 and it will thusbe seen that the hanger 18 will be permitted of free sliding movement but will be yieldably held in a raised position. It will be further noted that the hanger will be held in proper engagement with the supporting strip and will be prevented from having transverse movement.

A cross bar 24C extends transversely 0f the hanger and is provided with a longitudinally extending slot 25 and with upper and lower strips which form forwardly extending upper and Alower flanges 26 and 27. The lower strip 27 has secured thereto a plate sro 28 which extends rearwardly of the cross bar into the supporting strip 7 between the side flanges 8 thereof thus assisting in preventing the hanger from having transverse movement.

Carriers or blocks 29 are slidably carried by the cross bar 24 and are provided with slo-ts 30 through which pass securing bolts 3l carried bythe cross bar. When these securing bolts are loosened, the carrier blocks can be adjusted longitudinally of the cross bar and when the securing bolts are again tightened, the carrier blocks will be securely held in the adjust-ed position. rlChcse carrier blocks are provided with upper and lower protector strips 32 which are extended beyond the ends of the blocks to provide hinged ears between which will be pivotally mounted arms 33. These arms 33 extend forwardly and rearwardly of the carrier blocks and at their rear ends are provided with hooks 34 for engagement by springs 35. The springs 35 extend through the slots of the cross bar and are connected with the inner end portions of the carrier blocks as shown in Fig. a. It will thus be seen that the arms will be normally held to extend forwardly in diverging relation. The outer end portionsof these arms are provided with slots 36 through whichI will pass securing bolts 37 carried by the sack engaging plates 38. These plates 38 are provided with hook-shaped lower end ortions 39 for engaging a sack as shown in ig. 1. Strips 40 are secured to the carrier blocks 29 and extend downwardly beneath the same and are provided with hook-shaped lower end portions for engaging a sack as shown in Fig. 2.

When this device is in use, the supporting strip .will be vertically adjusted according to the length of the sack to be lled. The open end portion of the sack will be engaged upon the hooks of the strips 40 and the arms 33cwill thenl be moved toward each other against the tension of the springs 35 and thev hooked. portions of the plates 38 engaged by lthe sack. The arms can then be released and the springs will move the arms to the position shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The sack will then besecurely engaged by thehooks and will be held in place. By adjusting the carrier blocks and by adjusting the plates 38, the device can be adjusted to accommodate a narrow or wide sack and further by means of this adjustment, the sack can be caused to be held open in substantially a square, oblong or triangle. rlhe sack can thus be held open in the desired shape and can be very readily filled.

I claim:

1. A sack holder comprising a support, a hanger slidably carried by said support and yieldably held against downward movement, a longitudinally slotted cross bar carried by said hanger and having upper and lower flanges, carrier blocks between the flanges of said cross bar and adjustable longitudinally thereof, arms pivotally connected with t-he outer end portions of said blocks and extending forwardly and rearwardly thereof, springs connected with said blocks and extending through t-he slot of the cross bar and connected with the rear ends of said arms, and sack engaging means carried by said blocks and the forward portions of said arms.

2. A sack holder comprising a hanger, a cross bar carried by said hanger and havin" a slot therein, carrier bloc-ks carried by sai cross bar and adjustable longitudinally thereof, arms pivotally connected with the outer end portions of the blocks and extending forwardly and rearwardly thereof, springs connected with the blocks and extending through the slot ofthe cross bar and connected with said arms, and bag engaging means carried by the blocks and arms.

3. A sack holder comprising a standard, a supporting strip carried by said standard and provided with side flanges, a fastener carried by said standard and assing through a longitudinally extending slot in said strip, and a pin extending from the lower end of said strip for fitting into an opening in the lower portion of said standard.

4. The structure of claim 3 and a carrier slidable longitudinally of the strip between the side flanges thereof, and sack-engaging means associated with said carrier.
