Be it known that l, Znivmcri AUnnBAoH, a citizen of Russia, and resident ofV New York city, borough of Manhattan, in the county of New York vand State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Appointment Files or Racks, of which the following is a specilication. y

An object of my invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and effective rack or holder for cards and folders adapted to detachably retain the cardsor folders, the device being particularly adapted for keeping records for appointments, data of various kinds, and for retaining letters Yand the like.

Another object is -to provide a card or holder adapted to be supported in the rack, and having the characteristic of providing for a relatively large space for making memoranda thereon in a small compass, the card or felder being also adapted to contain letters and ,otherdocuments Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, where- Figure l is a front view of my'improved rack or holder; f l

4 Similar numerals indicate corresponding parts in the several views: The rack` mainly comprises a body "1 around which is wound a strip 2 in amanner-to partly overlap itself, and marginal binding 3. In the form Vshown in Figs. l, 2, 3 and 9 the body l is illustrated as a flat relatively thin sheet or board, say. of pasteboard, around which the strip 2 is wound, in an endless manner, as in a diagonal direction, so that lthe adjacent runs or layers of the strip will partly overlap one another, i

providing passage-ways or slots 4 at the upper edges 2a of the respective runs or layers of the strip to admit therebetween the cards 5. The strip may be of suitable fabric, such as tape, although the strip may be ofsuitable paper, metal or other material. Along the margins of the body, over tlie'layers of the strip at the edges of the body, the bindings 3k are fastened to retain the strip layers in place and to cooperate with the cards. The binding maybe of paper or cloth, preferably folded in Ufform to embrace the margins of the wound body, as shown in Fig. 3, the bindings being secured to the strip and the body by suitable adhesive. As shown in Fig. 1 the end portions of adjacent bindings overlap one another, the bindings extending completely around the body and serving as a finish for its edges and to confine the strip in its proper wound'condition' on the bodv.

A card 5, having the name of a caller exposed along its top portion, may be inserted in the appropriate part of the rack to hang alongside of the appointed time on card 8. The cards 8 may be rev placed to vary the succession of the units of time thereon according to requirements.

While the cards 5 may vbe oit a single Vthickness of material, (Fig. ll), adapted to ed with lateral projections 5C, at the oppositeV freeends of which cards are the projections 5?, and such folded cards may be again folded substantially midway at 5d to reduce the length of the cards and provide extended surfaces on both sides thereof, to be Vwritten or prin-ted upon. The folded cards may be inserted in the rack in the manner before described to hang therein by their projections 5, 5c.V
