No. 141,422, PaienredAugusr5,1873.
'Wmv/1 vUNITEE STATES PATENT CFFICE,
BLOOMFIELD BROWER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN COPYING-PRESS TABLES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 14 [,422, dated August 5, 1873; application filed February 7, w73.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BLooMFIELD BRowER,
.of the city ot New York, in the State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Copying-Press Tables, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates, first, to the attachment of a movable frame supporting the water-bowl to the table, in such a manner that the same can be moved outward, when required, for the purpose of wetting the paper, and moved under the table to be out of the way when not in use. The second part of my invention consists in making the slide-board, upon which the copying-book is supported preparatory to being put in the press, in two parts, and hing- Y ing the same together for the purpose of turning the same, together with the copying-book lying upon said slide-board, upward whenever it is desired to have access to the drawer situated below said sliding board, instead of being obliged to remove the book and push the sliding board inward before access can be had to said drawer.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents a front view, and Fig. 1I a cross-section, of a copying-press Itable embodying my invention.
A A represent the side frames supporting the top plate B, upon which the copying-press is fastened, and to which the box F is attached, containing the sliding board D, to support the copying-book while being prepared for the press, and one or more drawers, C, containing blotting-paper and other necessary articles. To the inner side of one of the frames A an eye or lug, in, is attached, into which a frame, w, is fitted, arranged to support on its other end the necessary water-bowl J. This frame fw, together with the water-bowl J, is made to turn in the lug or eye m, so that when the water-bowl J is required for use the same may be moved outward, as shown in Fig. I, and
v when not in use the same may be brought inward under the box F, as shown in Fig. II, and in dotted lines in Fig. I.
By this arrangement the water-bowl is always at hand when required, and can be moved out of the way and out of danger whenever the same is not in use.
Instead of the above arrangement the wa.- ter-bowl may be attached to a slide, working on the under side of the box F, but I prefer the swinging frame described.
The sliding board D, upon which the copying-book is supported while the same is prepared for the press, is made in two parts, D D', hinged together at n.
By this arrangement this board D may, to-
/gether with the book placed on the same, be turned upward, as shown in Fig. Hin dotted lines, to allow access to the drawer or drawers C, situated directly below said sliding board D, without having first to remove the copying-book and push inward this sliding board, before such access can behad, as is at present the case.
I do not claim, broadly, swinging frames tosupport water-bowls, chalk-bowls, or other articles; but
What I claim as my invention,'and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. The sliding board D D', made in two parts, and hinged together, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. ln combination with the side frames A A, top plate B, box F, and sliding board D D', made in two parts, the casting m provided with an eye, the swinging rod w forming a band, and the bowl J, all substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
BLOOMFIELD BROWER.
