Description
C. A. ANDERSON. REENFORCEMENT FOR CLOTHES CREASES.
APPHCATION FILED JUNE 16, I919.
Patented Apr. 25, 1922.
A TTORNEY CARL A. ANDERSON, OF SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.
REENFORCEMENT FOR CLOTHES CREASES.
Application filed June 16,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CARL. A. ANDERSON, a citizen of Finland, residing at San Diego, in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Reenforcement for Clothes Greases, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a means for reenforcing the creases which are usually pressed in clothes, for instance the front and back creases in the trousers and front and back creases in the sleeves of a coat and the objects of my invention are: first, to provide a means which is secured to the inner surface of the goods for reenforcing the creases in clothes; second, to provide such a means which may be readily applied to the different kinds and characters of clothes now in use;
third, to provide such a means which may be secured to the inner surface of the goods or between the goods and the lining where the clothing is lined; fourth, to provide a means for supporting the goods in their proper shape at or adjacent the usual creases made in pressing the goods and fifth, to provide a device of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, durable, easy to place in position and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects'in view as may appear hereinafter my invention con-- sists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon which form a part of this application, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a coat showing the reenforcement in position in the sleeve by dotted lines and showing a portion broken away and in section to facilitate the illustration; Fig. 2 is a side elevational View of a pair of trousers showing my reenforcement means in position by dotted lines and showing a portion broken away and in section to facilitate the illustration' Fig. 3 is a sectional View through 3-3 of Fig. 2 on an enlarged scale; Fig. 4 is a detailed transverse sectional view of the reenforcement alone on an enlarged scale and Fig. 5 is a detailed sectional view of the reenforcement in position with a layer of thin cloth or fabric, between my reenforcing member and the garment cloth, and a layer of thin fabric on the inner surface of my Specification of Letters iatent.
Patented Apr. 25, 1922. 1919. serial No. 304,425.
reenforcing member showing a slight modification from the preferred form.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several views of the drawings.
My invention consists of a thin pliable, resilient member preferably composed of rubber formed in V shape and secured to the inner surface of the goods in a position so that the point 1 is in the position where the goods in the garment is usually creased in pressing and the outer surface 2 is secured to the goods on opposite sides by gluing or sewing as desired, the former being preferable. It will be noted that this member in the preferred form is about one-eighth of an sides thus providing for maintaining a creasev at the proper position in the garment at all times, but liable enough to permit the free action of t e goods. If desired, the inner surface 5 of the reenforcing member may be covered with cloth or fabric,'or fabric may be placed between the reenforcing member and the goods or both as shown best in Fig. 5 of the drawings.
It is obvious that with this construction there is provided a means for reenforcing garments at the creases usually formed in pressing said garments which will maintain a crease in position for a longperiod of time. That the garments will not so readily wrinkle, stretch and get out of position at the front and back by reason of this reen forcement and while the garment will prac'- tically maintain its usual flexibility.
Having thus described my'invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In a device of the class described, an acute angled V shaped flexible and resilient member the limbs of the V at their point of juncture being thicker than at their outer ends and the apex of the V extending forwardly from the juncture of the limbs a distance several times the thickness of said limbs at their juncture, secured to the inner surface of the garment so that said apex is positioned to maintain the proper crease for the clothes.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at San Diego, California, thislOth day of June, 1919.
