SHOE FASTENER. APPLICATION FILED ocT. 3|, 1921.

' ATTORNEY UNITED STAT-ES PTEN FICE.
RUDOLPH WIL'IEIN, 0F PROCTOR, COLORADO.
SHOE FASTENER.
Application filed October 31, 1921. Serial No. 511,563.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, RUDOLPH lVIL'rE-IN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Proctor and State of Colorado, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shoe Fasteners, of which the following is a Specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention is a shoe fastener, and the Object is to provide a simple and elicient means, which may be readily incorporated upon any shoe provided with the ordinary eyelets along the twoedges of the frontal opening, and which will facilitate the fastening and unfastening of the shoe.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a frontal elevation of a shoe equipped with my improvement, the aps being unfastened at the top and fastened at the bottom.
Figure2 is a detail of one of the wire hook fasteners.
Figure 3 is anV edge view of one of the Haps, showing the arrangement of the latgh cord. Y
The invention consists in running a latch cord 1 in and out of the eyelets 2 of the flaps 3,01*' the shoe 4. so as to present outwardly along the edges of the flaps 3 a series of loops 5. The upper ends of the latch cordare knotted as shown at 6, to prevent their pulling out, or are fastened in any convenient way. Wire hook fasteners 7, each made of 'a simple length of wire, 'are provided. In forming these fasteners, the wire is bent upon itself to a substantially U-shaped form, the two free ends of each fastener areI crimped to form eyelets 8 to. engage one of the loops 5 at one side, while the other end Vof the fastener is bent to form a hook 9 adapted to releasably engage the opposite one of the loops 5, and thus fasten the shoe.
While I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood that same may be varied in minor details, not departing from the spirit of my invention as defined in the appended claim.
I claim: A shoe fastener for eyeleted shoes, comprising a latch vcord looped Vin and out through the shoe eyelets; and wire hook fasteners to releasably connect the loops along eachY of the flaps, each saidvfastener being made of a single piece of wire bent U-shaped with the free ends formed into eyelets and' engaging one of the loops at one side, whilel the other Aend is .formed into a hook for rcleasably engaging the opposite loop. i
RUDOLPH IVILTEIN.
