UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALEXANDER HATZUNG, OF EAST SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, ASSIGN OR TO T. N. BENEDICT MFG. CO., OF EAST SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
DISPLAY CARD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 28, 1922.
Application filed April 14, 1921. .Serial No. 461,445.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER HATZUNG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of East Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Display Card, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object a display card for articles of cutlery and the like which is simple and economical of manufacture and to which the articles can be readily attached and detached.
The invention consists in the novel features hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing. which is a face view of this card.
1 designates the card which may be of any suitable form and size, said card being formed with flat loops 2 at one end for loop ing over the handles of the articles as forks. spoons, etc., and with openings 3, 4 near its other end which are paired with the loops for receiving the blades of the articles.
The loops are formed by slitting the card along parallel lines at 5. The openings 3, 4. are quadrangular in general outline and the card is formed with flaps 6 or 7 extending into the openings 3 or 4 and arranged to engage the blade of the article on opposite sides of the shank or handle of the article. The quadrangular formation of the openings 3, 4 where the flaps are located is indicated by the dot and dash lines. The opening 3 in which the spoon is seated is diamond shaped in general form and arranged with one diagonal extending in a direction lengthwise of the shank or handle of the spoon, and the flaps 6 project from the upper adjacent sides of the opening.
The opening 4 in which the fork seats is oblong in general form with its long sides extending in the direction of the axis of the handle or shank, and the flaps 7 project from upper portions of the long sides.
Owing to the flat loops. the opening and flaps, the articles can be quickly attached to the card by first inserting the upper end of the handle under the loop and then depressing the blade in the opening until the flaps snap open the blade.
A display card for cutlery articles, the card having flat loops struck therefrom at one end to loop over the handle of the article, and an opening near its other end paired with the loop for receiving the blade of such article, the opening being quadrangular in general form, the card also having arc-shaped flaps extending into outline of the opening and arranged to overlap opposite margins of the blade depressed in such opening.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name, at East Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, and State of New York, this day of March, 1921.
ALEXANDER HATZUNG.
