citizen of the UnitedStates, and a=resipresent invention therefore has for its primary object the production of an improved scraping device, particularly adapted to remove the hair from the critter, which the usual scraping machines fail to reach.

rear plate, 7, may be formed on its upper edge with a forwardly extending flange, 12, which overlaps the edge of the blade and the parts, 8. The lower edge of the rear plate is provided with spaced guard teeth, 13, which depend a distance below the edge of the blade to serve to prevent cutting of the body of the critter.

Suitable means are provided for removably clamping the bladebetween the plates, as shortbolts, 14, which protrude through the'plates and transverse slots, 15, in the blade. To permit-adjustment of the blade vertically winged nuts,.16, threaded upon "the bolts when firmly screwed into engagement with the rear plate securely hold the parts against relative displacement, yet, by loosening the nuts on the bolts,.it is clear the blade may be readily removed, sharpened and replaced. On the rear plate I seviously intended for shaving or scraping convex surfaces on the body of the critter.

Referring now more particularly to Figs. 3 and 4, '18 represents the rear plate, 19 the front plate and 20 the blade. In this form the plates and blade are substantially semi circular in shape and have their corresponding ends hingedtogether as at 21. The convex'edge, 22,.of the blade extends a distance above 'the front'plate and is in this form the sharp edge, while the rear plate is provided with spaced guard teeth, 23, which extend adistance above the blade. The

blade is removably clamped between the plates as in the previously described form by bolts, 14, and winged nuts, 16, the blade being slotted as at 24fto'receive the bolts and permit vertical adjustment of the blade.

' Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is,-

1. A hog-scraping knife, including a crescent-shaped blade member, having a sharp edge, a correspondingly-shaped plate member having guard teetlrprojecting beyond the sharp edge of the blade member,-

one of said members having bolt holes and theothertrans-verseslots, and clamping bolts passing through said holes and slots' to secure the memberstogether'and permit their adjustment transversely of each other, to regulate-"the distance between the sharp edge'o-f -the blade and the end of the guard teeth:

an elongated curved guard plate, against Which the blader'ests, a handle on the plate, the plate being slotted vertically, and bolts passing through the blade and slots to secure the blade and plate together and permit vertical adjustment of the blade whereby the sharp edge-ofthe blade may be moved to- Ward and from the adjacent edge of the guard plate. 7 I
