A collar 38, integral with the spindle 36, engages the face of the head 5 and positions the spindle in the head while fitted in the bore in the spindle 36 is an ejector rod 39 adapted to slide in the bore and to engage the end of the blank to aid in freeing the blank. Mounted upon the spindle 36 so as to turn freely thereon is a collar 40 having a projection 41 adapted to engage a pin 42 in jection 41 on the adjacent collar 40. Screwed on the spindle 36 and held in position by set screws 46 are the locking collar 47 and cap 49 that serve to keep the crank 44 and loose collars 40 close together so that the pin-42 and the various projections 41 on the'collars 40 will be engaged. This arrangement, when the handle has been turned toits limit, permits the handle to have a predetermined movement before it engages the projection 41 on the adjacent collar 40. The collar will then move with the handle until, in case'but one collar is used, the projection41 engages the pin 42. Where more than one collar is used, the projections 41' are successively engaged and the corresponding collars moved with the handle until the projection 41 on the collar adjacent the head 5 engages the pin 42. The number of collars 40 and the position of the pin 42 in'the series of openings 43 determines the extent of-the movement of the handle. As this operation takes place irrespective ofthe direction in which the handle 44 is turned, the handle and spindle are turned through a definite are each time the handle is operated between its extreme positions and this amount may be varied to suit'the requirements in the case of any particular blank by changing pin 42 from one opening 43 to another and by varying the number of the collars 40 on the spindle 36.
In operation, the pawls are operated by the handle 26' permitting the sleeve carriage 11 and the sleeve 27 to be drawn away from the chuck 37 by the operation of the hand wheel 17 so that a'blank 30 maybe inserted in the sleeve. The blank, properly heated, being inserted in the sleeve 27 with the endof the blank between the screws 29 and bearing against the plug 28, the hand wheel 17 is operated to bring the sleeve -a sleeve carriage adjustable. on said base plate, a blank carrying sleeve carried by said carriage, means carried by said sleeve to hold the blank against rotation, aheadcarried by said base plate, a spindle in said head, means for rotating said spindle in said head and adjustable means on'saidhead and co-oper ating means on said spindle for determining the degree of rotation of said spindle." V
