Improvements in Photographic-Filmstrip Hangers, of which the following is a specification. I
The present inventionis directed to improvements in photographic fihn strip hangers, and meansfor quickly and easily attaching films to the'same.
The object of the lnvention is to provide a device of this character constructed in such a manner that the operator can upon operating a foot treadle or other means, successively impale the upper ends of th'efilm strips upon spurs forming apart of the rack, and actuate a clamping bar. to positively hold the film strips engagedwith the rack during the successive operations of developing, films. 7
With this and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully. described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 6 is a. detail view of the film rack, showing the clamping bar in its operative position, and the same holding a number of film strips.
The device comprises a U-shaped frame 1, the side arms 2 of which terminate in ears 3, said ears being formed with. perforations 4 for receiving securing devices for attaching the frame to a wall or other suitable support.
A yoke 5 is employed and has its arms 6 pivo ally connected with the side arms 2 of the frame 1, as at 7, while suitably secured to the bight 8 thereof is a bar 9, preferably formed from wood, the purpose .of which will appear later. A bar 10 has its ends secured to the arms 6 of the yoke, and formed centrally of this bar is a perforation 11, in which is secured the lower end of a coil spring 12, the upper end of which is attached to a hook 13, said hook being secured in the wall or other support. This spring serves to normally hold the yoke in its raised or inoperative position, as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
Suitably secured to the lower edge of the bar 9 is'a strip offelt 1 1, the purpose of which will later appear.
' Adjacent each end of the front bar 15 of theframe '1 are secured the lower ends of the post 16, and spaced therefrom, and also fixed tothe bar 15 are stops 17, said stops and posts being secured to the outer face of said bar.
Suitably secured to the'inner face of the bar 15, and adjacent the ends thereof are spring fingers 18, said fingers being bowed inwardlyyand having their upper ends inclined, as at 19. 7
Removably associated with the frame 1 is a film rack 20, which is of conventional shape, but has its horizontal bar 21 provided with a plurality: of spurs 22. A clamping bar 23 is provided, and is preferably formed from angle metal, the horizontal web of said bar being formed with a plurality of perfoi'ations2a, corresponding in number to the spurs 22. The ends of the bar 23 are formed with guides 25 which are adapted to slidablyengage the vertical arms 26 of the rack 20,,said arms terminating in handles 27.
A cord or wire, 28 is employed, and has its upper end secured in the perforation 11, while the lower end thereof is connected to a treadle 29 of any suitable construction. Thus it will be seen that the yoke 5 can be swung downwardly upon pressing upon the treadle 29, and that both hands of the operator are free to manipulate the film strips 30. It will be of course understood that a number of film strips are engaged on the rack before the same is removed from the frame 1.
It will be noted that. when the rack 20 is engaged with the frame 1, the bar 21 thereof rests on the upper edge of the front bar 15, The bar of the rack is prevented from moving laterally in either direction with respect to the bar .15 by the stops17,
and fingers 18, said fingers also serving in con] unction with the posts 16 to preventthe 7 track from tilting owing to the fact that the handles 27 are engaged between the fingers and posts. The fingers 18 also serve to hold the clamping bar 23 in its raised or inoperative position since the ends thereof are entreadle 29- and the wire or c'ord 28 until the stri 14 is penetrated by th'e'spurs 22, aud
