WING PUMP. APPLICATION FILED AUG.25, I92I.

WING PUMP.
Application flied August 25, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH HAFKES- BRINK, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Berlin-Friedena-u, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in W'ing Pumps, (for which have filed an application in Germany on the 29th of November, 1919,) of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a wing pump which is distinguished by simple construction and by great efficiency.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood, I shall proceed to describe the same with reference to the form of con struction shown by way of example on the accompanying drawing, wherein Fig. 1 is a cross section through the suction side of the pump.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section, and
Fig.3 is a partial cross, section through the discharge side of the pump.
In a circular casing 1 an oscillable wing 2 is mounted upon a wing shaft 3. In the lower part of the pump the suction port 4 and the discharge 5 are arranged, the discharge channel 7 being cast upon the rear wall 6 of the casing. This discharge channel 7 terminates with its orifice 8 in the discharge side of the casing and it presents at the middle an enlargement 9 so that at this point the rear wall 6 of the casing and the wall of the discharge channel can be connected by a cast partition 10 without impeding the outflow of the liquid. This partition 10 serves as bearing for one end of the wing shaft 3, whose other end is journalled in the cover 11 of the casing.
A V-shaped comparatively narrow valve support 12 with suction flaps 13 and pressure flaps 14 is arranged over the suction port and discharge port, all the flaps or only the pressure flaps being pressed upon their seats by springs 15. The interval between the suction side and the discharge side within the valve support is separated by a partition 16. It is essential that the valve support 12 is removably mounted in the valve casing and that it is secured in its position only by means of small pins, stops or the like.
The pump is driven by a toothed sector 17 connected with the pump handle 18 and gearing with a pinion 19 keyed upon the wing shaft. 'lhe toothed sector 17 is pivotably mounted upon a pin 20 which is fixed Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 495,223.
either in the casing or, as shown on Fig. 1, on the cover 11.
This drive has the advantage that with a comparatively small oscillation of the pump handle a full stroke of the wing 2 through. about 300 is obtained so that the inner space of the pump is completely utilized.
The packing of the wing against the valve support 12 is effected by a packing 21 the sides of the valve case being packed by the pressing on of the cover.
I claim 1. An improved wing pump comprising in combination a circular casing having a discharge port and a suction port, a dis charge channel cast in one piece with the rear wall of said casing communicating with said discharge port, a removable valve support, pressure flaps and suction flaps on said valve support, a partition dividing said valve support, an oscillating Wing, a pump handle, an oscillating sector connected with said handle, a pump shaft and a pinion keyed upon said shaft and gearing with said toothed sector.
2. .An improved wing pump comprising in combination a circular casing having a discharge port and a suction port, a discharge channel cast in one piece with the rear wall of said casing communicating with said discharge port, an enlargement at the middle of said discharge channel, a cast partition connecting the rear wall of said casing and the wall of said enlarged part of the discharge channel serving as journal, a removable valve support, pressure flaps and suction flaps on said valve support, a partition dividing said valve support, means for securing said removable valve support in its position, an oscillating wing, a pump handle, an oscillating sector connected with said handle, a pump shaft journalled in said cast partition and a pinion of smaller diameter than said toothed sector keyed upon said shaft and gearing with said toothed sector.
3. An improved wing pump comprising in combination a circular casing havin a discharge port and a. suction port, a discharge channel cast in one piece with the rear wall of said casing communicating with said discharge port, an enlargement at the middle of said discharge channel, a cast partition connecting the rear wall of said casing and the wall of said enlarged part a cover of said connected with said handle, a pump shaft journalled in said cast partition and a'pinion of smaller diameter'than said toothed sector keyed upon saidshaft and gearing 15 with said toothed sector. I,
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses. l
