Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 14, 1918. Serial No. 262,-259.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RoMANUs BOHNEN- BLUST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leonardville, in the county of Riley and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in \Vater Motors, of which the following is a specification. i
This invention relates to power generators and moreparticularly to water motors.
One of the objects of this invention resides in the provision of a water motor which will generate electricity at a minimum expense. 7
A further object of this invention resides in the provision of a water motor consist.- ing of an embodiment of elements which are controlled to obtain a predetermined amount of power.
A still further object of this invention resides in a water motor having adjustable power wheels which carry means for preventing the accumulation of floating rubbish thereon.
With these and other objects in view this invention resides in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of elements to be 'more fully set forth in the specification herewith and pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that the right is reserved to resort to such minor changes in construction as come within the scope of the claims.

In the'present embodiment of this invention the numeral 5 designates a float which consists of a buoyant platform 6 having a housing or hood 1O thereon. it
Mounted on the aforesaid hood is an enclosure 12 on the roof of which is secured an electric generator 14 which is enclosed by a housing 16 to protect it from the surrounding damp atmosphere.
Suitably secured within the hood 10 is a rotatable shaft 18 on which is spliued a pulley 20 and sprocket wheels 22. The sprocket wheels 22 are connected to other sprocket wheels 24- on counter-shaft 26 by suitable chains 28 and are actuated by power wheels 30 on an adjustable shaft 82 through the instrumentality of sprocket wheels 3d and 36 that are connected by suitable chains 38. p
The aforesaid power wheels are adjustably retained in operative position to the rear of the counter-shaft by a plurality of arms 40 to the free ends of which is attached the free ends of cables 41 that are wound upon windla'sses 12carried by a shaft 43 that is supported adjacent the top of the hood 10 over the, shaft 32.
In order to cause the rotation of the shaft 43 and the consequent adjustment of the power wheels, a gear 44 is secured to said shaft 43 for engagement with a worm gear 25 that is manipulated by means of an operating shaft 46.
With this mechanism disposed in opera tive position as heretofore stated and the iioat anchored by suitable cables 47 in a stream of water it is apparent that the generator 14 will be successfully operated by belt 48 which transmits the motion of the pulley 20 to a pulley 49 on the generator and through the provision of electric wires 50 the current so generated'can be supplied to the surrrounding territory.
With this invention as herein set forth it is manifest that a power generator is produced which is cheap of manufacture readily operable regardless of the condition of the water and thoroughly the maximum cfliciency with a minimum expenditure for maintenance.
