IMPROVEMENT IN BASE-BURNING COOKING-STOVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,138, dated J une 24, 1873; application filed April 5, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANFORD INGRAHAM, of Naples, in the county of Ontario and State ofN ew York, have invented certain Improvements `in Goal Cook-Stove, of which the foland a magazine, B, above the top of the stove C. A space is left in the shell H of the stove, which projects out from the top of the firepot and the case E of the magazine, sufficient to admit or the bottoms of the cooking-utensils, and the eXtra movable dues D D D which are placed between them. lThe magazineis surrounded by a case, E, of a concave and conveX shape, to admit of the required number of boiler-holes F F F, which are placed in a circular form round the magazine, and to form a suitable space for the draft. The concave part of the case of the magazine comes in contact with the magazine, which brings the holes for the cooking-utensils nearer the magazine and further over the nre-pot. The convex part leaves a space between the boiler-holes for the draft ofthe stove, which passes up between the magazine and the case. rlhe draft is changed and brought in contact with the bottoms of the cooking-utensils by means of a kind of extra movable flue, D D D, with sides and bottom, and open at each end, which is placed against the under side of the top ofthe stove, and may be replaced by another when injured by the action of the heat, and is supported by means of an extra plate or brace below, Which rests on the under plate H of the shell of the stove, by which means the direct draft upward is changed and brought in contact with the bottoms of the cooking-utensils, thence into the front end and through the extra iiue, thence up and through the concave part ot' the magazine to and around the oven I, thence to the pipe on the top of the oven. The grateA to the coal-pot is operated by means of a lever, which is inserted in an opening at the top of the hearth. A griddle, M, is placed in the bottom of the oven I, and in thetop of the magazine B, which may be removed for the purpose of supplying the magazine with coal.

2. The combination of the eXtra movable ues D D D, the boiler-holes F F F, the magazine B, the magazinefcase E, the oven I, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
